Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

With just 3 of the 10 juveniles on display having raced before, this is an intriguing opening event and the betting market will be a good indicator. FIFTY CENTS drifted alarmingly in the betting exchanges on debut but still produced an impressive first performance. The Snaith inmate was slightly slow into stride but finished strongly to be close-up, despite having to ease at a crucial stage. He was eventually promoted to 2nd and that experience would have brought him on nicely. He is the clear first pick of the raced runners and it will take a good newcomer to account for the top selection.

Jockey: Lovekushsing GOOMANY - Trainer: Paul REEVES

This is a wide open fillies and mares handicap and caution is advised. METAPHYSICAL had a fair return to her former home province and in fact, she should have finished a little closer but for finding plenty of traffic issues. Nevertheless, she was just over one length behind the 3rd placed finisher MISTICO LADY and now meets that rival on 2kgs better terms. She will strip fitter and it must be noted that she was carded to race at this venue on 22/04 so her progress there must be monitored.

Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Mike BASS

This is the usual competitive fillies and mares handicap but there could be a serious betting proposition in the form of the four-year old PRINCESS ELEANOR from the Mike Bass yard. This daughter of Horse Chestnut was rested for 14 weeks after she probably found nine furlongs too far for her in her last start. Her penultimate run though, stands out in her formline as she produced a fine finish to beat a top quality subsequent winning three-year old going away over this c & d. She receives some handy weight from her younger counterparts once more and the engaging of Karl Neisius suggests that her conditioner will have her fit and ready.

Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Adam MARCUS

BOSTON CELTIC has always shown to be above-average and he clearly improved a few lengths after being equipped with blinkers in his latest start. The son of Fort Wood led throughout to beat many of today's rivals over this c & d that day and may have escaped with just a three pound penalty. He should handle the rise in class and is a big contender with his low mass of 52.5kgs. The Adam Marcus inmate is once again well drawn and he merits healthy respect.

Race 3: BLUE EYED BOY(9) (Each Way)
Jockey: Brandon MORGENROOD - Trainer: Paul REEVES

BLUE EYED BOY had little go his way on debut over the minimum trip six weeks ago but he still made eye catching late progress to finish just under five lengths adrift. The betting market on that occasion suggested that he wasn't wound up so there should be heaps of improvement to come from the Tiger Dance gelding who will relish this extra furlong. He could represent decent each/way value in this open contest.
