Race 2: JUST ROCK 'N ROLL(7)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

This is a competitive maiden juvenile contest for fillies, with a few form runners in the mix. JUST ROCK 'N ROLL had two useful attempts and now drops in class after her running on 3rd against winners over 1100m on this course, four weeks ago. The daughter of Seventh Rock should continue to improve and merits healthy respect.

Race 3: GIN FOR GENIUS(10)
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Eric SANDS

GIN FOR GENIUS produced a fair debut over this c & d at long-odds recently and she should have lots of natural improvement to come. The Eric Sands inmate raced prominently before tiring late to finish just out of the money, beaten just under four lengths at the wire. That experience would have brought her on and the engaging of Karl Neisius suggests that her conditioner fancies her chances today.

Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Mike BASS

The classy former Grade 1 winner FLY BY NIGHT probably felt the effects of a tough campaign when she performed below-par in a cracking field last time out. Nevertheless, she was beaten just over three lengths in that Grade 1 event and would have benefitted greatly from the 11 week break. She has turned into a top class sort since making the trip to KZN and though she won't be fully wound-up here, she has all the class to carry this big mass to victory. The daughter of Jet Master is best in by some distance on official ratings and is clearly the horse to beat.

Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Mike ROBINSON

It could pay to follow the progress of Annigoni in the previous contest as the outcome of this event should be dominated by that formline. IMPERIAL GUARD fared best of his rivals when he was outrun late over seven furlongs by the former last time out. He is equally effective down the straight and should be cherry-ripe on his third run after the rest. The son of Imperial Stride should go close in this field.

Race 7: ROYAL DREAMER(2) (Each Way)
Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Mike BASS

This is an interesting low-key handicap with all the three-year olds conceding weight to the four-year olds. ROYAL DREAMER takes a bizarre drop in distance but this son of Rebel King is well above-average and he could still pull this off. He caught the eye with a maiden win despite a punishing ride over a mile second time out but had excuses for his next two moderate attempts. However, the blinkers did the trick for the Bass inmate as he bounced back to form with an impressive ten furlong victory last time out. He is probably preparing for the Winter Series but as mentioned above, he has some class about him and can claim victory with the headgear on again. The likely strong gallop will play into his hands.
