Race 7: CODE RED(11)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: CHAMPERY(2)
Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Eric SANDS

CHAMPERY landed the betting coup with an impressive victory on her debut over this c & d, four weeks ago. She is obviously rated highly by her conditioner and has lots of improvement to come. Veteran jockey Karl Neisius usually rides the stable elect for the Sands yard and this daughter of Querari has bright claims of following up.

Race 3: VOGUE'S WOOD(1)
Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Mike BASS

VOGUE'S WOOD is the obvious form choice in this weak maiden contest and her pedigree suggests that the daughter of Fort Wood will relish the rise in distance. She went close to winning over a mile in her last start and has plenty of room for improvement. The Mike Bass inmate is well drawn and she merits healthy respect. However, she could get stiff competition from the Irish bred daughter of Galileo, GIFT OF RAIN.

Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK - Trainer: Mike BASS

AIR CHIEF MARSHALL is in good form but probably should have landed the gamble when outrun late into 2nd over ten furlongs at Durbanville, recently. The son of Jet Master hung badly at a crucial stage and that certainly cost him victory. He also went close to winning over this shorter trip in his penultimate start and has strong claims of going one better. He gets the stable jockey up and Van Niekerk will be aware of this gelding's tendency to hang in the closing stages.

LINE BREAK is unbeaten over this distance and produced the run of his short career when he drew off to record an impressive win against strong opposition over this c & d on Met day. That victory earned him a seven pound penalty but he still has lots of scope and would have strengthened during his 12 week absence. The son of Dynasty has loads of class about him and he should take a power of beating.

Race 7: AROUND NOT ACROSS(3) (Each Way)
Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

AROUND NOT ACROSS has been below-par in both his post maiden efforts beyond sprints and his condition- er has quickly dropped him to six furlongs. He did show some improvement when making late progress last time despite suffering a mouth injury but the son of King's Apostle could be best down the straight over this trip, for now. Of course, he beat a dual subsequent winner when shedding his maiden tag over this c & d in early February and still has good room for improvement. He was recently docked two pounds in the ratings and should be very competitive in this field.
