Race 3: MOOFEED(10)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Luyolo MXOTHWA - Trainer: Lezeanne FORBES

The Roy's Donkey c & d formline should stand up tall in this opening contest and CAPTAIN KING gets the narrow first verdict after his solid recent performance. He challenged strongly when beaten a head into 2nd in yielding conditions in that event and has obvious claims of going one better.

Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

The Glen Kotzen team holds a strong hand in this Grade 3 feature and riding engagements suggest that former champion Princess Victoria's, half-sister PRINCESS ROYAL is the right one. The daughter of Captain Al has won 2 of her 3 career starts, the latest of which came in a Fairview feature over six furlongs, six weeks ago. She was considered good enough to take on highly rated male rivals in her penultimate start on Met day and has lots of room for improvement.

Race 6: JET BELLE(1) - TOP BET
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer:  Glen KOTZEN

JET BELLE is a top class mare who has shown great versatility during her distinguished career. She placed in back-to-back Grade 1 events in the Cape prior to a 12 week break and she is no stranger to racing in this province. In fact, this daughter of Jet Master won this very same event a year ago, albeit that was at Clairwood. She has a cracking sprint record and should go very close on this testing circuit.

Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

GATHERING FAME is improving quickly and she still has tons of improvement to come. The Drier inmate has shown promise from day one and she continues to run way above her rating. She captured a listed feature at Kenilworth over 1700m in her penultimate start and then performed well in her comeback run on this track, four weeks ago. She was badly under sufferance that day and would have needed the run, but the daughter of Jet Master challenged strongly and only went down three parts of a length to CAPTAIN'S DAUGHTER. She will be much fitter this time around and now meets her conqueror on 3.5kgs better terms.

Race 2: RASTA'S JET(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Paul GADSBY

The Paul Gadsby yard has engaged two top jockeys aboard their contenders in this event and the pair could battle out the finish. Anthony Delpech's mount RASTA'S JET weakened over six furlongs on this track last time but she produced a decent penultimate effort over this c & d against male rivals and would have strengthened during her 13 week absence. She faces her own sex today and will be much better suited to this minimum distance.
