Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Michael AZZIE

This is a very moderate opening juvenile contest, made even more difficult by the fact that none of the 13 fillies have raced on this tight track before. DIAMOND TIARA had a decent debut over seven furlongs in yielding conditions on the standside track and that experience will stand her in good stead. She has a wide draw to overcome but gets top jockey Gavin Lerena in the irons and has a few first timers drawn on her inside.

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Sean TARRY

MALAK EL MOOLOOK got going too late in a feature over 1100m last time and that effort clearly indicat- ed that he is searching for further. His conditioner has obliged and the son of King's Chapel will love every bit of this extra distance. He is unfortunately drawn wide on this tight track but drops heavily in class on his third run after the layoff. The Sean Tarry inmate has lots of improvement to come and he should still go very close in this line-up.

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Grant MAROUN

BLAZING BRAVE produced his career best effort despite having issues in yielding conditions on the standside course, three weeks ago. The son of Horse Chestnut was very slow into stride but moved up menacingly before tiring late into 2nd that day. He was a head in front of today's rival RAFA on that occasion and his experience on this course is a major plus if he jumps on terms. The Grant Maroun inmate now gets the services of Strydom who will be wary of his inability to jump with the rest of the field.

FORT NAVIDAD is improving with each run and he produced his career best effort despite an excuse last time. The son of Fort Beluga was collared late after setting the pace over a mile on this track and he should continue to improve. This slightly shorter trip will suit him better and he merits healthy respect in an ordinary field.

Race 6: MARMALADY(3) (Each Way)
Jockey: Wesley MARWING - Trainer: Ormond FERRARIS

MARMALADY has had two fair local runs and she will now be cherry-ripe on her third run after the rest. The former Cape resident tired late into 4th in yielding conditions behind ROCKIN THE DAISIES over ten furlongs, three weeks ago and she has been dropped another two pounds in her rating. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade is now 5kgs better off with the three-year old for that 3.80 lengths defeat and she can finish much closer today. Furthermore, she will prefer this shorter run-in and the slight drop in distance.
