Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Sean TARRY

The Tarry yard could be at it again here and ESCAPE ROUTE gets the vote. The Trippi colt went off at long-odds but made steady progress for his fair debut 4th in a feature over this c & d, two weeks ago. He is obviously rated by his conditioner and that experience would have brought him on considerably. He takes on winners once more but does drop in class and merits healthy respect.

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Louis GOOSEN

The Louis Goosen yard holds a very strong hand in this Pinnacle Stakes contest and the ratings and form points to the top class TRIP TEASE. The four-year old has done little wrong in his distinguished career and he showed no ill effects of his Cape Town trip when he kept on well to win on the sand over this distance, three weeks ago. He only tired late in a Grade 1 in the 'Mother City' prior to that but is a different proposition on the Highveld. The son of Trippi is extremely well treated by today's weights and he will take a power of beating with Strydom in the irons. He is unbeaten from two c & d efforts.

Race 4: SEA FAN(1)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Dominic ZAKI

SEA FAN has issues but she has already shown her decent ability, having finished runner-up in her last two runs. She was caught late after perhaps just needing her comeback run over seven furlongs recently That form was done little favour when her conqueror flopped badly next time out but this daughter of Jet Master will be fitter and she clearly has plenty more to offer. The mile should suit her well and she holds claims from her handy draw. That said, she will be tested by some form contenders.

Race 9: JAMMING(14)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

JAMMING has shown decent ability in her two attempts and the betting market on those occasions suggest that she is showing good work back home. The Gavin van Zyl inmate was outrun late into 2nd over nine furlongs on the inside course last time but Khumalo would have learnt plenty about the daughter of Mambo In Seattle since. She will surely be given a more patient ride over the extra furlong on the standside course today and still has lots of improvement to come.

Race 7: ARCETRI PINK(2) (Each Way)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Kumaran NAIDOO

A top class field has assembled for this renewal of the Grade 1 Empress Club Stakes and a thrilling finish is expected. The three-year olds got the better of their older counterparts in this event last year and the c & d specialist ARCETRI PINK fared well when runner-up, beaten just over one length at the wire. The four-year old filly takes on some classy younger sorts this time around but she had the perfect prep coming into this contest and she can go one better. The daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar has surprisingly changed stables after that latest effort but she will go very well from he good draw in this contest.
