Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

PRINCESS MILO may have been unsuited to yielding conditions when she tired badly late in her last run but she was shaping nicely before that. She tried hard when outrun late into 2nd over this trip in her penultimate start and meets a very weak line-up here. The daughter of Fort Wood is well drawn at gate 2 and she could take a power of beating, if handling this surface.

Jockey: Julius MARIBA - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

GUY FROM DUBAI won his only start on the sand in a feature over nine furlongs, three runs back. He took a long-time to shed his maiden tag but has been solid since and has developed into a fair sort. The de Kock inmate is versatile and he will be fitter after needing his comeback run, recently. The mile won't be an issue for the son of Right Approach & he is well in at the weights in this allowance contest.

Jockey: Mathew THACKERAY - Trainer: Bradley MAROUN

ANTONIUS CHARM has been thereabouts in recent outings on the grass at this level and he is effective on this surface. He should have finished much closer last time but has cracked a good draw now and can make amends on the sand. The four-year old colt is distance suited and he has strong claims with a low mass of just 49.5kgs.

Race 8: PROUD AS PUNCH(11)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Stephen MOFFATT

PROUD AS PUNCH may have found seven furlongs too far for him last time but he had two solid previous sand attempts over shorter. This minimum trip will suit him even better and the son of Kahal will be much sharper with blinkers fitted. He gets the services of Piere Strydom and merits healthy respect.

Race 5: CELTIC HEROINE(11) (Each Way)
Jockey: Callan MURRAY - Trainer: Paul PETER

CELTIC HEROINE had excuses for her last two runs and she is much better than that, particularly on the sand. She showed good earlier potential on this track and after a few moderate grass runs, her rating has slid. She can take full advantage of that and she has now joined an in-form yard. The daughter of Brave Tin Soldier will benefit from a 2.5kgs apprentice allowance and she can cause an upset from her midfield draw.
