Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: SANDS OF TIME(12)
Jockey: Francois HERHOLDT - Trainer: St John GRAY

This is a moderate opening contest and the big improver could be SANDS OF TIME from the St John Gray yard. The son of Argonaut had a moderate debut on the grass over this distance behind a quality sort and that formline has worked out well. He would have strengthened during his subsequent 13 week break and should make natural improvement. His conditioner's horses usually enjoy this surface and the bay colt will be aided by pole position.

Race 2: MASNOON(2)
Jockey: Johnny GEROUDIS - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

MASNOON is a sand specialist who has lots more to come, particularly over ground. His late bursts in his last two starts over 1450m suggests that he will relish today's rise in distance and the son of Big Brown is a big contender, despite the rise in class.

Race 4: SEE YOU(2) - TOP BET
Jockey: Randall SIMONS - Trainer: Paul MATCHETT

SEE YOU has shown some useful sand form and she has an ideal opportunity to open her maiden account today. She stayed on for 2nd over this c & d recently and jumps from pole position now. The Matchett inmate meets a weak field and is the horse to beat.

Race 6: CELTIC KING(7)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Wallace TOLMAY

CELTIC KING has hit form recently and despite taking a bump, he drew off to record an easy last win over seven furlongs on the grass. He should have finished even closer but for some intimidation in his penultimate start over this c & d. He finished just over half a length adrift of the culprit PROUD AS PUNCH that day but gets the ideal opportunity to exacta revenge on that rival. His pole barrier position and just a pound hike in his rating after that sand display are major pluses and he gets the nod to follow-up.

Race 8: BELINSKY(14) (Each Way)
Jockey: Mathew THACKERAY - Trainer: Tyrone ZACKEY

The recent Ahlaam formline over a mile on this track could dominate the outcome of this low-key fillies and mares handicap. The grey BELINSKY made eye-catching late progress for 4th from a wide draw that day and though she was well beaten, she was just under half a length behind the runner-up SPELLB- OUND whom she faces on 3kgs better terms. Furthermore, the daughter of Fort Beluga has drawn well in barrier 5 and she will relish the extra furlong, having finished just three lengths adrift of the top class three-year old Withbatedbreath over this distance, three runs back.
