Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: ROUGE ET NOIR(1)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Sean TARRY

ROUGE ET NOIR is clearly ineffective on the grass but she is a different proposition on this surface. She produced her career best effort over this c & d three runs back and is a serious contender, if repeating that outing. ARIZONA PIE is a long-time maiden but she has improved in her last two sand outings. She set a fast gallop but only tired late over 1450m on this surface, last Tuesday.

Jockey: Randall SIMONS - Trainer: Paul MATCHETT

SEA KNIGHT had excuses for his below-par last run but would have benefitted from the 13 week absence. He had solid form prior to that and is effective on both surfaces, with his best runs coming on this surface. He meets an ordinary field and should go very close in this line-up.

Race 6: UNCLE TOMMY(2)
Jockey: Marco V/RENSBURG - Trainer: Weiho MARWING

UNCLE TOMMY now resides in KZN but makes the long trip up for a crack at this listed contest on his favourite surface. The Kahal gelding excelled on this track whilst in Gauteng and has never been out of the first three in 16 runs here. He is best in on official ratings today and should go very close, if he has travelled well.

Race 7: ROYAL TRIP(2)
Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD - Trainer: Stanley FERREIRA

ROYAL TRIP is a top class sand performer and her breathtaking last feature win over 1450m bears testament to that. She has a brilliant turn of foot and could relish the rise to the mile. The daught- er of Trippi still has huge improvement to come and she will easily handle this further rise in class. She jumps from a good draw and should go very close in this line-up.

Race 3: HALF MOON HOTEL(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD - Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL

HALF MOON HOTEL enjoyed being equipped with blinkers when he made good improvement on his sand debut in a feature over 1450m, four weeks ago. The Cape visitor moved up well before tiring late into a close 4th and he should improve on that effort. He is out at the weights in this pinnacle stakes event but will prefer this shorter trip and should be competitive.
