Race 2: BENEDICT(4)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Gavin SMITH

MAGIC AMEERAH is a fast type who showed good improvement on her polytrack debut, second time out. She was outun late into 2nd after setting the pace over this c & d that day and was in turn, just over six lengths ahead of the 3rd placed finisher, SKATTEJAG. The Gavin Smith inmate would have strengthened during her nine week absence and should make further improvement with racing. She gets Khumalo in the irons and rates as the horse to beat.

Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Gavin SMITH

MIDNIGHT MAGENTA produced two much improved local performances prior to a 14 week break and she has shown to be effective on this polytrack. The Gavin Smith inmate was penalized five pounds for her fair last run against much stronger opposition and the engaging of Khumalo suggests that she will be fit and ready. The daughter of Trippi jumps from another solid draw and she holds strong claims in this line-up.

Race 7: AL LUNAM(1)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Renate DU PLESSIS

AL LUNAM is effective on this track and he produced a good finish for a close-up 3rd over this c & d last time out. That run earned the bay gelding a four pound penalty but he drops slightly in class and now gets top jockey Gavin Lerena in the irons. The son of Captain Al will relish the likely blistering pace and he should be running on strongly at the finish.

Race 8: HELIANE(6)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Gavin SMITH

HELIANE has been facing much stronger opposition in the 'Mother City' albeit over further and it does come as a surprise to see her in this province as she is still lightly raced. The daughter of Captain Al has produced some fair post maiden runs and she continues to drop in the ratings. It will be interesting to see how she copes with the polytrack but the four-year old bay filly should certainly love the likely fast gallop.

Race 4: MULAAZEM(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: Kersley RAMSAMY - Trainer: Hekkie STRYDOM

MULAAZEM relishes racing on this surface and he showed good improvement here, last Friday. He quite surprisingly raced handy before finishing a creditable 3rd over the mile and will no doubt prefer this drop in distance. The five-year old entire' drops in class and will once again benefit from a 4kgs apprentice claim. His maiden victory came over this c & d and he should be competitive.
