Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: NARMADA(5)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Phillip SMITH

NARMADA is above-average and he showed improvement on his return to this province, recently. She was outpaced in the early stages of that c & d effort but made steady progress for 3rd behind an easy winner. The daughter of Right Approach should continue to improve and she could benefit from being equipped with blinkers.

Jockey: Donavan MANSOUR - Trainer: Johan Janse v/Vuuren

The Gauteng yard of trainer Johan Janse Van Vuuren brings down a few runners on this card and they could be in line for a very successful afternoon. The well drawn three-year old filly STUNNING ANGEL could start the day off with a bang. This daughter of Ravishing is lightly raced and she has shown promise on the Highveld, with her career best effort coming over this trip, four weeks ago. She will take a power of beating but the obvious concern is how she will handle this surface.

Jockey: Donavan MANSOUR - Trainer: Johan Janse v/Vuuren

THE CLEVELAND ARMS is another Gauteng raider who could start a warm favourite on today's card. The son of Judpot is no stranger to Kimberley though, as he won both his local efforts on this track, recently. He kept on well to beat ASTRO BOY by three parts of a length in a similar contest over this c & d, five weeks ago and jumps from an even better draw today. He was penalized four pounds for the effort but obviously loves racing at this venue and can remain unbeaten on this track.

Jockey: Fanie CHAMBERS - Trainer: Corne SPIES

The brilliant three-year old sand performer ALL THE BIDS continues to be a revelation. He was game albeit tiring late into 4th in a Highveld feature on the Vaal sand last time out and has no equals on form in this province. His excellent local record speaks for itself and he thrashed former July runner up SMANJEMANJE by 5.50 lengths over 2200m in his penultimate outing. Furthermore, the bay gelding is now 1kg better off with the runner-up and he is equally effective over this shorter distance. He has this contest at his mercy.

Race 8: THERE IS A DREAM(9) (Each Way)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Dennis CASON

There are plenty of speedsters in this six furlong contest and a likely suicial pace could be on the cards. That will play right into the hands of the Muhtafal gelding, THERE IS A DREAM. This four-year old bay has promising local form and he meets the speedy CARIBBEAN DAY on 2kgs better terms for a three length defeat over this c & d last time. That doesn't seem enough but the latter had the run of the race that day and she clearly won't have that advantage today. The top selection gets a stronger jockey aboard on his third run after the rest and he is a serious contender.
