Race 4: EL GALLO(10)
Race 5: PEJ(7)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

NEVER SETTLE found huge betting support but fluffed his lines on his debut over seven furlongs on this course, five weeks ago. However, little went the son of Western Winter's way on that occasion and he weakened over the final furlong after moving up well. He is obviously showing his conditioner smart work back home and the expensive purchase could make amends here. His wide draw isn't a major issue in this small field and he could enjoy this slight drop in distance. The form of that event has worked out well.

Race 3: ONE VAR DREAM(2)
Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Paul GADSBY

ONE VAR DREAM needed her comeback run badly after a lengthy 41 week absence and she will strip much fitter today. The daughter of Var had promising form over this c & d prior to suffering a setback and she has room for improvement. It is encouraging that Cormack retains the ride and the three-year old filly should be very competitive in this line-up.

Jockey: Luyolo MXOTHWA - Trainer: Lezeanne FORBES

CAPTAIN KING has struck up a decent partnership with this apprentice and he produced his career best run on the grass last time out. The Trippi gelding was beaten a head into 2nd at the wire and had the long-time maiden HIGH MAINTENANCE a further length adrift. The top selection has finished close-up on this track and he could be rewarded for some good recent performances.

Race 5: PEJ(7) - TOP BET
Jockey: Eric S NGWANE - Trainer: Charles LAIRD

The sole filly in this contest PEJ shoulders bottom weight, thanks largely to a 4kgs apprentice claim and she could be the right one in an extremely competitive affair. The speedy daughter of Kahal had two classy efforts on this track, one of which was when she went down a short head to top male rivals over this c & d. She has acquitted herself well since and though well beaten, she finished runner-up in a Gauteng feature over 1160m, four weeks ago. The short break would have helped her recover from the journey and this minimum trip suits her well. All that said, she meets some other real quality sprinters and will be made to work hard for victory.

Race 8: LADY AMI(8) (Each Way)
Jockey: Tristan GODDEN - Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT

LADY AMI is enjoying this surface and she produced a promising last run over 1900m on this track. She challenged a heavily supported sort strongly before going down three parts of a length at the line. That earned the daughter of Daylami a four pound penalty but she clearly has more to offer. The four year old filly will again benefit from a 4kgs apprentice allowance and she receives valuable weight from her younger counterparts. Her wide draw isn't a big issue over this distance and she can go one better. There are some quality three-year olds in this line-up and despite their big masses, they should give the top selection plenty of cheek.
