Race 7: CHAMPERY(1)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

MORE THAN GRAND has produced two smart performances to date and he should continue to improve. He was green on both those occasions and may have found six furlongs a tad on the sharp side for him, second time out. The Justin Snaith inmate had a creditable debut performance over this c & d prior to that and he should go very close in this opening contest. His good draw is an obvious plus.

Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Darryl HODGSON

TWENTYMANJONES is overdue his next career win and he is well handicapped to break that drought today. The four-year old gelding has been consistently facing stronger and he is at his best when sprinting. He was slightly disappointing in his penultimate effort but probably found the minimum trip too sharp for him and he has dropped nicely in the ratings since. His best recent performance has come with Fortune in the irons and the Jay Peg gelding should be involved in the finish.

Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

CANADIAN DOLLAR has issues but he has produced some decent form and gets the narrow first verdict in a competitive field today. He ran on from far back for a good 3rd over seven furlongs last time and should prefer the mile. The grey gelding has another awkward barrier to contend with but the extra furlong could make all the difference.

Race 8: TOPLESS(12)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

TOPLESS has shown decent ability in her two runs to date and she made the expected improvement when trying the mile, second time out. She raced handy in a small field that day and ran on well for a close 3rd, beaten just over one length at the line. The Snaith inmate should continue to improve with racing and this nine furlongs should be right up her alley. She jumps from another decent draw and must be respected.

Race 5: MATIES WILDEKAT(6) (Each Way)
Jockey: Xavier G CARSTENS - Trainer: Mike BASS

This is a most intriguing Conditions Plate as more than half of the eight entrants prefer much further than this minimum trip. Therefore, the ratings may not necessarily be the best guide and the Mike Bass inmate MATIES WILDEKAT could make her low mass count. She is at her best over this trip and that is crucial in this contest. The daughter of Var tired late after racing prominently in a competitive handicap over this c & d on Met day and she shoulders just 49.5kgs here. She has produced some useful efforts in strong fields and rates a big contender.
