Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: JUSTASH(7)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Roy MAGNER

JUSTASH is lightly raced and most effective on the sand as she showed when producing her career best run over this c & d in her penultimate outing. She found outside betting support that day and stayed on for 2nd, beaten just two lengths at the line. She was poor on the grass subsequently but could bounce back to form in this contest.

Jockey: Karl ZECHNER - Trainer: Roy MAGNER

RETURN TO THE SUN had legitimate excuses for his weak last effort but that was on the grass and he was having his second run after the layoff. He is an entirely different proposition on this surface and produced a cracking penultimate run over this c & d. The son of Indigo Magic finished strongly for 2nd and was in turn exactly six lengths in front of the 3rd placed finisher FIRST SIGN. He should continue to improve and will take a power of beating in this line-up.

Race 6: ROYAL TRIP(2)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Stanley FERREIRA

ROYAL TRIP's last run is best ignored as she had a very poor start. Her previous sand form shows her true ability and she had little go her way but she still cruised past LADY CASEY in a feature over this c & d in her penultimate outing. She is now just 0.5kg worse off with the latter and should confirm the form. This daughter of Trippi is excellent on this surface and she should show that potential, if jumping on terms today. Gavin Lerena knows the filly well.

Race 8: ESCUDO(2)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Sean TARRY

ESCUDO bounced back to form with a gutsy last run over a mile on this track, two weeks ago. She may have still needed the run but pushed SPELLBOUND hard before finishing just over one length behind the latter at the line. She is now 1kg better off with her conqueror but will be cherry-ripe on her third run after the layoff and could turn things around. She is more effective over this extra furlong.

Race 5: AUGUSTINUS(3) (Each Way)
Jockey: Karl ZECHNER - Trainer: Tyrone ZACKEY

AUGUSTINUS has turned his fortunes around since racing on this surface and his penultimate run showed that he is versatile. He stayed on for a good 3rd behind MOOTAHADEE over six furlongs on this track that day and now meets that rival on 1.5kgs better terms. The five-year old chestnut had a solid subsequent run over 2450m on the grass and he will have no issues with this drop in distance. He can reverse the form with the latter.
