Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: JOLENE(3)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

JOLENE clearly benefitted from the long absence as she bounced right back to her best with a running on 2nd over this c & d, two weeks ago. She faces a similar line-up and has definite claims of going one better on her third run after the layoff. She will again enjoy the services of red-hot jockey Gavin Lerena.

Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The powerful Justin Snaith yard could be at it again here and their recent recruit ANTONIA'S FORTRESS is clearly the horse to beat on form. The Cape visitor has been campaigning against far stronger opposition and she needed both her comeback sprints. She clearly prefers this distance and her 4th placing behind subsequent winner Hammie's Hooker three runs ago, stands out in her formline. The Fort Wood mare jumps from a midfield draw and could prove very tough to beat, if she handles the local conditions.

Race 6: KANARA(5)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

Only a small field of nine fillies go to post for this listed juvenile feature but there are some useful sorts on display and a thrilling finish is expected. The locals take on two unknown visitors who will severely test their mettle. KANARA is improving swiftly and has an impressive turn of foot which enabled her to record back-to-back c & d wins, recently. She beat SHIRAZ CABERNET with a bit in hand last time and though she has a wide draw to overcome, she should still confirm the form.

Race 7: MASTERLY(4)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

MASTERLY has shown marked improvement in his formline since relocating to PE and he was outrun late into 2nd by BADGER'S TRAIL (2kgs worse off) over 2200m on the polytrack, three weeks ago. The former Gauteng inmate is equally effective on the grass and has huge claims of reversing the form. He was handed a three pound penalty but is extremely well handicapped and should relish the rise in distance. He shoulders just 52.5kgs and merits obvious respect.

Race 3: REBEL ROAD(3) (Each Way)
Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Steven V/RENSBURG

REBEL ROAD clearly prefers sprinting and he quickly bounced back to his best with a solid last effort over the minimum trip. He stayed on for 2nd after showing good pace that day and should prefer this extra furlong. The son of Announce will again wear blinkers and it is encouraging that Muzi Yeni retains the ride.
