Race 4: STONE PINE(2)
Race 8: JACK FRIDAY(3)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Tienie PRINSLOO

LORD VICTORIOUS has surprisingly relocated after just four runs on the Highveld. He showed some abili- ty and stayed on for a good 3rd over 1160m in yielding conditions second time out. He joins the top stable of Tienie Prinsloo and could have a bright local future, if he handles this surface. The son of Dupont takes on a competitive local field but he should still go very well.

ATSO FIELDS probably still felt the effect of the tough seven furlong pinnacle event when he performed slightly below-par over his favourite c & d last time out. He was reportedly not striding out but still finished a creditable 3rd, nonetheless. The Atso gelding has an excellent c & d record and the four week break would have certainly helped his cause. He deservedly shoulders top weight but should still take all the beating, if at his best.

Race 7: QUEEN OF ROCK(2)
Jockey: Jarryd PENNY - Trainer: Cliffie MILLER

QUEEN OF ROCK is back in form and she showed all of her determination as she drew off late to record a good victory over a mile after racing wide, recently. She was drawn widest of her dozen rivals that day and seems to have escaped with just a four pound penalty. The daughter of Rebel King will be equally effective over this shorter trip and she can stake a serious claim in this smaller field.

Race 8: JACK FRIDAY(3)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Bill HUMAN

There are many form runners in this handicap and most of the dozen entrants have realistic claims, which makes for an intriguing affair. JACK FRIDAY has hit a purple patch and continues to perform better than his rating. He was given a great ride from the front when only caught late by a top young- er sort over a mile at pinnacle level last Monday. He fought off the early attentions of the nine-year old JACK DAN when close-up that day and is now 1.5kgs better off with the 3rd placed finisher. S'manga Khumalo's ride is probably better suited to this shorter distance and is definitely better treated at this handicap level. He jumps from a much better draw and should go really close.

Race 9: MCGEEK(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: Deon SAMPSON - Trainer: Vernon RUGG

The Vernon Rugg yard had a great day at this venue a week ago and could continue that work in this final event. Their three-year old charge MCGEEK is holding his form and he ran on again at the finish for 4th behind IL PALIO over seven furlongs last Monday. He was drawn badly that day and the run clearly indicated that the son of Newton is now searching for further. He meets his conqueror on 2kgs better terms and should finish much closer to that rival.
