Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: DANCE ON AIR(3)
Jockey: Marcus A - Trainer: Laird C S

More than half of the entrants in this opening juvenile contest are unraced & that makes things really interesting. The betting market should be a good indicator and a close eye must be kept on DANCE ON AIR from the Charles Laird yard. This bay gelding is a son of Kahal out of a Rambo Dancer mare and stable pilot Anton Marcus gets the ride.

Race 4: POLAR TRIP(1)
Jockey: Marcus A - Trainer: Puller G B

POLAR TRIP has definite ability but she is plagued with problems. She clearly needed her comeback run after a long absence and will strip fitter. The daughter of Trippi meets an ordinary line-up and she should go very close with Marcus in the irons.

Jockey: Marcus A - Trainer: Lafferty P V

GARIBONDY is the class act in this pinnacle stakes event and she is best in on offical ratings. The daughter of Var loves racing at this venue and she drops heavily in class after faring poorly in a Grade 1 event last time. Marcus knows her really well and the Lafferty inmate could take some beating in this field.

Race 7: GOLD BANK(7)
Jockey: Khumalo S - Trainer: Tarry S G

This is an intriguing penultimate event and the in-form three-year olds have their work cut-out for them with big masses. GOLD BANK takes a steep rise in class but the four-year old gelding is ultra consistent and has plenty more to offer. He was an impressive winner of his last start over nine furlongs on the polytrack and despite a four pound penalty, he is well handicapped in this field. He clearly enjoyed being equipped with blinkers last time and the Tarry inmate will again wear the headg- ear.

Jockey: Taylor C - Trainer: Marwing W H

A big upset could be on the cards in this final event and KNOCKOUT JOHNY could provide it. The son of Teofilo is plagued with issues and has under-performed in his career but his comeback run from a wide draw on the polytrack wasn't bad. He had no luck getting over from his wide draw but moved up well before understandably tiring in the closing stages of that mile contest. He will strip much fitter today and he showed a liking for this trip in Gauteng. He could make serious improvement from his good draw.
