Race 5: PICARDI PINK(13)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Karl ZECHNER - Trainer: Tyrone ZACKEY

GENTLEMAN ONLY has been slightly disappointing but he has faced stronger and now drops to maiden company. He is above-average and the fitting of blinkers could make a real difference to the son of Miesque's Approval. He had one solid c & d performance and merits healthy respect.

Jockey: Craig ZACKEY - Trainer: Dominic ZAKI

PODEROSA found solid betting support when she produced a high class debut over this trip at the Vaal, three weeks ago. The speedy daughter of Toreador fought hard and was only overhauled late by the odds on favourite and should have plenty of improvement to come. This track should suit her running style and her good draw is a major plus.

Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS

COUNTERSTROKE has shown useful ability when finishing 3rd in all three of his outings to date. The form of his penultimate run over this c & d was given a boost when the runner-up won easily next time out. He tired late after setting the pace over a mile last time but probably just needed the effort and will be fitter today. He should continue to progress and has bright claims for his red-hot yard.

Race 8: MAI THAIGA(8)
Jockey: Deon SAMPSON - Trainer: St John GRAY

MAI THAIGA is very capable on his day but isn't the most reliable. However, he was given an average last ride when trying 2400m at the Vaal. He was allowed to hit the front way too early and seemed not to see out the trip. Still, he wasn't beaten far and his conditioner has wasted little time in droppi- ng him back in distance. He should handle the rise in class and his swift turn of foot will stand him in good stead. He should feature prominently in this competitive line-up.

Race 7: WOZA MADODA(9) (Each Way)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS

Jockey Piere Strydom shrewdly secured the ride aboard the four-year old WOZA MADODA who represents great value in this contest. The son of Black Minnaloushe is seldom beaten far and he should have no issues with this rise in class. The bay gelding often gets going late and he finished well for 4th, beaten just under two lengths behind LOCO POR GANAR over this c & d, three starts ago. He now faces his conqueror on 6.5kgs better terms and jumps from a midfield draw.
