Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: MODJADJI(10)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Sean TARRY

MODJADJI showed good improvement in firm track conditions second time out and she should continue to progress. She had decent pace when a good 3rd that day and those handy tactics will assist her on her track debut here. The daughter of Rebel King should enjoy this extra furlong and will be aided by pole position on her debut around the turn.

Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Paul PETER

ROSE OF CASTILLE has shown useful ability since her lengthy absence and she looks ready to win. She had some traffic issues but eventually ran on strongly for 2nd over nine furlongs on this track, two weeks ago. The slight drop in distance won't be an issue for the daughter of Right Approach who once again jumps from a good draw. Furthermore, Gavin Lerena knows her better now and he could have her handier this time around. The Paul Peter inmate is clearly the one they all have to beat.

Jockey: Ian STURGEON - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

The Geoff Woodruff stable holds a strong hand in this competitive handicap but their lesser fancied charge, AMERICAN STORM gets the nod. The versatile Black Minnaloushe gelding enjoys this track and he has come to form in his last two starts. In fact, he comfortably beat his highly regarded stablemate SHEA DEVON on the run to Majestic Bay over 1700m in his penultimate outing and then followed that up with a decent last run in a competitive field. He meets the latter on similar weight terms and should give a really good account of himself.

Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS

BEACH IN A BOTTLE is improving all the time and he has gone close in both his post maiden runs over this c & d. He tried hard despite a big mass last time but did earn himself a three pound penalty in the process. Nevertheless, the son of Mullins Bay is weighted close to his fellow three-year old rivals here and can definitely go one better. It is worth noting that he was beaten by CORLEONI in the maiden ranks over seven furlongs but has clearly improved since & should reverse that form, particula- rly as the latter is drawn very bad.

Race 4: WOODY GLOW(1) (Each Way)
Jockey: Francois HERHOLDT - Trainer:  Alec LAIRD

WOODY GLOW was poor on the sand last time and probably didn't enjoy yielding conditions in his penultimate start. The son of Fort Wood is clearly better than those two efforts and he went close to winning at the Vaal, three runs back. He has experience on this track and could bounce back to his best form from a handy draw.
