Race 1: KIKUSHA(6)
Race 9: SONG JET(11)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

CHALCEDONY has had enough chances but she is in good touch and stays well so is a big contender in this field. The daughter of Mullins Bay had a cracking local debut when she flew late and only failed by a head over a mile on the inside track at Turffontein, four weeks ago, despite jumping from a poor draw. This ten furlongs and the longer run-in will suit her perfectly and the Van Zyl inmate should go close from a handy draw.

Race 4: ASZKABAN(12)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING - Trainer: Weiho MARWING

The Arabian World c & d formline should dominate the outcome of this event and ASZKABAN could avenge his narrow defeat in that event. The Weiho Marwing inmate is above-average and he finishes his races strongly. He did so in both his efforts to date and should continue to improve. He is drawn wide but Weichong Marwing will know him better now and the pair are definitely the ones to beat.

Race 5: SMART MART(4)
Jockey: Johnny GEROUDIS - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

This is a very competitive stayer's pinnacle stakes but there could be a 'rising star' in the making in the form of the three-year old, SMART MART. The Mike de Kock inmate blossomed on the sand early on this season but his recent form proved that he is equally effective on the grass. His last run also confirmed that he could be headed for the tops in staying events. The son of Mambo In Seattle produced a strong finish to beat some fair rivals going away over 2600m on a tight circuit. He has a hefty mass to shoulder against far stronger now but will love every bit of this longer run-in and is improving rapidly. He is unbeaten with Johnny Geroudis in the saddle. All that said, he will be pushed hard by many seasoned campaigners in this line-up.

Race 7: CASUAL(4)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Robbie SAGE

CASUAL is seldom beaten far and she is threatening to achieve that deserved second career victory. She finished strongly when a close 2nd over eleven furlongs on a tight circuit last time and can go one better down this longer run-in. She picked up a hefty four pound penalty for her troubles but meets a similar field and merits healthy respect.

Race 8: VELOCITY VOSSIE(6) (Each Way)
Jockey: Donavan MANSOUR - Trainer: Johan Janse v/Vuuren

VELOCITY VOSSIE is improving quickly and he overcame many obstacles when producing a strong finish to win his maiden impressively at just the third attempt over this c & d, two weeks ago. He takes on stronger on his handicap debut but is clearly ahead of the handicapper and still has lots more scope for improvement. The son of Latino Magic is well handicapped here and should go very close in this line-up.
