Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: MAGIC(8)
Jockey: Collen STOREY - Trainer: Leon ERASMUS

The Tearaway c & d formline could dominate proceedings in the opening event and MAGIC is a strong first selection. He ran on nicely for 2nd behind his stablemate in the contest referred to above and should take some beating, if repeating that effort.

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Roy MAGNER

VICTORY SILKS has shown enough to date to warrant serious consideration in this average field. He has a good sand record and showed speed when outrun late into 2nd over six furlongs last time out. This minimum trip will suit the Roy Magner inmate who has strong claims of going one better.

Race 6: THE GOBI(8) - TOP BET
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Weiho MARWING

THE GOBI is a lightly raced four-year old who is improving. He landed the betting coup when winning his maiden in his comeback run second time out and then followed that up with a fair sand debut, two weeks ago. The son of Kahal, just like most of his rivals was given a thrashing by a potentially top sand sort but he still ran on late to finish runner-up over this c & d, that day. Furthermore, he did stumble at the start and was drawn poorly. The Weiho Marwing inmate now jumps from gate 3 and he clearly has lots more improvement to come. He was handed a two pound penalty but could still be ahead of the handicapper and should go close in this field.

Race 7: LADY CASEY(3)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Stephen MOFFATT

LADY CASEY and QAWAASEM renew their rivalry over this c & d and the pair could dominate proceedings in this competitive handicap. Both rivals were drawn poorly but dominated the finish of their last run and the former is now 2kgs better off at the weights. Interestingly, her last victory came with Gavin Lerena in the irons over this c & d.

Race 5: LORD WINDSOR(12) (Each Way)
Jockey: Collen STOREY - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

LORD WINDSOR loved the switch to this surface as he impressed with a smart c & d victory over the frontrunning START YOUR ENGINES, two weeks ago. The new recruit to the Woodruff team achieved that win from a poor stallgate and despite the obvious eight pound penalty, he could have plenty more to offer on this surface. The son of Silvano is now drawn well at gate 4 and should be competitive.
