Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

SALINGER made big improvement over the minimum distance, second time out. The Snaith inmate raced in touch but dropped back at a crucial stage before running on eye-catchingly for 3rd at the finish. That effort clearly suggests that he is searching for further and his conditioner has obliged. His debut performance on this track was shocking but he was slow into stride and has shown to be better than that. He is drawn widest in this small field but should still take all the beating with Fourie in the irons.

Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

PRINCESS JANE was immediately rested after a dismal last effort over this trip at Kenilworth. She showed promise prior to that and was beaten a bob of the heads into 2nd on this track in her penultim- ate outing. The daughter of Rebel King would have benefitted from the break and she has bright claims in this field.

Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK - Trainer: Mike BASS

TRIPTOTHESTARS put a shocking Gauteng Autumn campaign behind him when producing a much improved comeback run in his home province. He stayed on for a close 4th over a mile on this track that day and should strip a much fitter and happier horse today. The Bass inmate showed lots of earlier ability in the Cape and he should build on that improved last run. He will easily handle the rise in class and merits healthy respect from pole position.

Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK - Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

TIGERESS DANCE has an affinity for this track and she is in very good nick. She has kept her form well against lesser company but should easily handle this rise in class and is a huge contender in this line-up.

Race 8: MORNING LIGHT(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: Corne ORFFER - Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

MORNING LIGHT has some issues but she is making up for lost time. She has relished going over ground and kept on well to shed her maiden tag over a mile on this course in her penultimate run. Her post maiden run on her handicap debut was most pleasing though, as the Brett Crawford inmate got going late for a decent 6th over nine furlongs. She was returning from an eleven week absence so will strip fitter and she should relish this distance.
