Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: KING'S FIRE(4)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Renate DU PLESSIS

A very competitive opening event with many form runners but KING'S FIRE has been 'crying out' for blinkers and her conditioner has finally obliged. The daughter of Rebel King has shown smart form to date but often gets going too late. This is her best c & d and the headgear, coupled with red-hot title seeking jockey Gavin Lerena could make a significant difference. She is back against her own age group today and should be involved in the finish.

Race 2: O MOLLY(3)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

Only a small field of eight three-year old fillies do battle for this ten furlong maiden contest and an exciting clash is expected between O MOLLY and the former Cape resident, strangely named GAUTENG. The former is a lightly raced daughter of Dynasty who produced her career best effort over a mile. She had excuses but plainly found the trip too sharp for her last time and is bred to relish this rise in distance. She should have a big say with the stable jockey up.

Race 4: SPEKBOOM(1)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

SPEKBOOM has come back to form since relocating to PE but more was expected from the Ideal World geld- ing in his last start on the polytrack. He lacked a strong finish that day but perhaps still just needed the effort and now has his peak run. Furthermore, the Greeff inmate gets equipped with blinkers and he is effective on the grass. He should continue his good local improvement.

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Tara LAING

RED BARREL has dominated these local events, winning 6 out of his last 7 starts, mostly against many of today's rivals. The Tara Laing inmate's c & d record speaks for itself and he is once again well treated by the weights. He jumps from a midfield barrier position and looks set to add to that tally.

Race 8: WESTERN WU(10) (Each Way)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

WESTERN WU's local debut over the minimum trip on the polytrack must be totally ignored as his jockeys saddle slipped. The former Cape inmate had some fair form prior to that despite often being slow into stride. He will be fitter now and races over a more suitable trip on the grass. The son of Dynasty was beaten just over three lengths against stronger over a mile in his penultimate start and is suited by blinkers. He jumps from a handy draw and should make good improvement in this field.
