Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: RARE FLAME(1)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY - Trainer: Gavin SMITH

RARE FLAME is holding her form well but took a hard ride after being slow into stride on the grass last time. She proved she is equally effective on this track when placing three runs back and must be strongly considered in an ordinary field. She will need to jump on terms though.

Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

SOUL SACRIFICE produced excellent local form prior to his long layoff due to some quirks. His fitness is a slight concern but he has been successful racing fresh previously and he holds a very good polyt- rack record. The five-year old gelding finishes his races well and should be competitive despite his wide draw.

Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

The speedy BENEDICT enjoys this c & d and despite a big mass, he is well-weighted with many of today's rivals and rates the one to beat. He has been campaigning against stronger and was outrun late by TOUR DE VAR (2kgs worse off) over this c & d in his penultimate outing. The Var pairing both have top jockeys on today and should engage in another exciting clash.

Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

The expensive three-year old filly PURELY ATOMIC has revived her career since relocating to this province. She beat her consistent stablemate in the maiden ranks over the minimum trip on her local debut but was more impressive when being touched off against much stronger on her handicap debut, next time out. That latest effort earned the imported daughter of Encosta De Lago a five pound penalty but she still has huge scope for improvement and could have a bright local future. She surprisingly showed lots of speed in that last start and this surface could be to her liking. The Greeff inmate is drawn in pole on her peak run and she should be involved in this competitive handicap.

Race 9: LOVE FROM AL(11) (Each Way)
Jockey: Gift FUNEKA - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

This is another extremely competitive low-key fillies and mares handicap and plenty of caution must be exercised. LOVE FROM AL, in keeping with her conditioner's resurgence in form has done the exacta same thing in recent efforts. That consistency was rewarded when she got up late under a strong ride to deny Gavin Lerena and his male mount victory over the minimum trip on this surface, two weeks ago. She seems to have escaped with just the minimum two pound penalty and now faces her own sex. The daughter of Captain Al has no issues with this extra distance and she has a good finish so her wide draw isn't a major worry.
