Race 1: CAVALLINO(4)
Race 3: LEDBURY(9)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Mike ROBINSON

BONFIRE HEART produced two smart c & d efforts to date and he would have strengthened during his 16 week absence. The form of his latest effort was franked when his conqueror triumphed in a subsequent feature and Karl Neisius retains the ride on the Trippi gelding. The expensive purchase should go very close in this field.

Race 3: LEDBURY(9) - TOP BET
Jockey: Brandon MAY - Trainer: Stan ELLEY

The speedsters could dominate this five furlong maiden contest and the juvenile entrant LEDBURY gets the nod. The Querari gelding has done well in his two c & d runs in open company and he placed against his own age group in the soft, four weeks ago. It could pay to follow the progress of Cavallino in today's opening event as this bay gelding was only a neck adrift of that rival last time out. The engaging of an in-form 4kgs claiming apprentice could do the trick and the juvenile gets first choice.

Race 4: CAPTAIN SAM(5)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER - Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL

CAPTAIN SAM finally got his act together on the Highveld with the aid of blinkers in his last outing during an Autumn escapade. The extremely well-related gelding is lightly raced and won his debut over this c & d late last year and has a bright future. The son of Captain Al would have benefitted from a 13 week absence and he has plenty more improvement to come. He returns to his home town and will be ready for this rise in class.

Jockey: Karl NEISIUS - Trainer: Eric SANDS

MAKE THE MAGNET is improving with each outing and she ran on well for 2nd in soft conditions over a mile, four weeks ago. Her pedigree suggests that this extra furlong will be no issue for the Slew The Red filly and she should continue to progress. In-form jockey Karl Neisius retains the ride.

Race 6: MUSICAL MAN(14) (Each Way)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER - Trainer: Piet STEYN

The four-year old MUSICAL MAN is a versatile sort who continues to run well in these low-key handicaps and he should do so once again today. He finished close-up despite an excuse over the mile last time and was just out of the money over this c & d, three runs back. The chestnut gelding was recently docked a pound in his merit rating and he should be competitive with Domeyer in the irons.
