Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: SWAKOPMUND(10)
Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

SWAKOPMUND surprised his yard when producing a cracking debut over this c & d at lengthy odds, six weeks ago. He showed lots of pace before being outrun late into 2nd and should make natural improveme- nt. The stable jockey has to negotiate an unfavourable draw for the Drier inmate but his experience could prove invaluable and he can go one better.

Race 4: AL WAHED(7)
Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

AL WAHED is the half-brother to brilliant former Grade 1 winner Via Africa and this son of Elusive Fort had two useful sprints prior to suffering a major setback. He faced some smart sorts in those outings and though he returns from a 50 week absence, his conditioner is extremely pleased with his work and feels that he should give a great account of himself. The bay colt is favourably drawn and gets the services of an in-form pilot.

Race 7: JET AVENGER(3)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

JET AVENGER needed his comeback run over this c & d but he will strip fitter and could be a real force in this field. The expensive Jet Master gelding had some decent Gauteng form despite issues and he shed his maiden tag on this track. He drops in class and should bounce back to form here. The three year olds NEW FORT and WORSHIP DANCER could offer plenty of competition. The former was making his local debut when he ran on well to finish just out of the money on the polytrack over 1800m, six weeks ago. He has just over one length to find with the latter but will strip fitter and is probably better on the grass.

Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The juvenile BROOKLYN BRAWLER was all at sea after a slow start on his moderate debut over this c & d, also in open company, five weeks ago. However, the Justin Snaith inmate did make some steady progress and would have come on appreciably from that experience. He is well drawn in his second track appeara- nce today and could make huge improvement against some very ordinary older rivals.

Race 6: JUST AFRICA(12) (Each Way)
Jockey: Calvin HABIB - Trainer: Paul PETER

The juvenile JUST AFRICA flopped badly in both his local starts in feature company but he is clearly at his best over today's minimum distance and could be a real threat on his handicap debut. The speedy Gauteng visitor is favourably drawn and will benefit from a 4kgs apprentice allowance. He can cause an upset in this field.
