Race 2: VANDA(12)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: VANDA(12)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING - Trainer:  Ormond FERRARIS

The juvenile VANDA has shown some fair form to date and she could prefer this minimum distance. She may have just needed her comeback run after an eight week break and can rival her ordinary older counterparts.

Jockey: Sherman BROWN - Trainer: Leon ERASMUS

VICTOR'S CASTLE is in good form and she is clearly the pick of the older brigade. The daughter of Spanish Harlem finished well for 2nd over a mile on this track last time and she should have no issues with this shorter trip.

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Clinton BINDA

DEVIOUS TIGER is often thereabouts and his conditioner has found the ideal contest for him to get that deserved next career win. Strydom knows the Tiger Ridge gelding well and the four-year old has placed over this c & d. He continues to steadily drop in the ratings and should be competitive.

Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Clinton BINDA

The Clinton Binda yard often thrives during the winter and this season is no different. The stable had a double at Turffontein recently and GOLD STATUS could continue that run of form today. This three year old gelding has shown ability from day one and he has bounced back to form since returning from a 12 week break. He stayed on nicely for 2nd over a mile on this track recently and was in turn, almost five lengths ahead of the 3rd place finisher, LUNDY'S STAR whom he meets on identical weight terms. The shorter distance should suit the gelding perfectly and he has huge claims in an ordinary field.

Race 7: ELUSIVE FLYER(5) (Each Way)
Jockey: Randall SIMONS - Trainer: Stuart PETTIGREW

The NOBLE STAR formline on 28/05 could be a good pointer to the outcome of this competitive staying event and the three-year old colt ELUSIVE FLYER gets the nod to emerge victorious. The son of Elusive Fort stays very well, having easily won his maiden over 2600m in his sixth career outing. He needed his comeback run but caught the eye when finishing well for 4th behind the former over this c & d last time, despite casting a shoe. The Stuart Pettigrew inmate has lots of improvement to come and he is now 2kgs better off with his conqueror. That should certainly bring the pair closer. Speaking of the former, he followed up that performance by winning over the same distance in his next outing which was at Scottsville. He probably felt the effects of the marathon return trip when below-par last time out and could bounce back to serious form today. Piere Strydom partnered him to victory three starts ago.
