Jockey: Collen THABANA - Trainer: Jacques STRYDOM

BOSTON PARTICLE made a fair local debut against winners at novice level over this c & d, two weeks ago and that formline could be worth following. The former Cape resident made steady late progress despite returning from a 15 week absence, that day. He will strip fitter and could benefit from racing with blinkers. The four-year old gelding takes a big drop to maiden company and should be very competitive.

Race 3: RAVE KING(14)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Renate DU PLESSIS

RAVE KING made the expected improvement when he ran on steadily for 3rd over six furlongs, second time out and he has experience over this c & d. He has three parts of a length to find on the consistent MEMPHIS MAFIA but he has much more scope for improvement and jumps from a better draw. The other plus is that Fortune retains the ride on the Ravishing gelding.

Race 4: SYMBOLIK(4)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

This is a tricky conditions plate and the likely sedate gallop makes things more interesting. SYMBOLIK is in good form and the manner in which he ran on again over a mile last time suggests that he is searching for further, nowadays. He was caught late in soft conditions over this c & d at a similar level in his penultimate outing and despite being under sufferance here, he can still be involved in the finish. The sedate gallop could suit the son of Kahal who enjoys racing handy.

Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

CAT AND THE MOON ended last season on a high when clinching a Grade 3 event over nine furlongs in heavy conditions at Kenilworth last time. She did so despite reportedly not striding out and would have benefitted from the subsequent six week absence. The daughter of Black Minnaloushe is no stranger to these parts of the country, as she won a feature over a mile, the last time she visited here. She is best handicapped to claim this listed contest and has won up to eleven furlongs. The bay filly should take a power of beating.

Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The Snaith/Fayd'Herbe combination could be at it again and this time VILLA DEL LARGO could get that overdue fifth career win. The Jallad gelding is often thereabouts in the Cape and interestingly, he won his only start over this c & d. The weights suggest that he has work to do but he prefers this six furlongs and should be very competitive.
