Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: LA FLAMBEE(11)
Jockey: Domeyer A - Trainer: Marcus A N

LA FLAMBEE was slow into stride but she still produced an exciting debut over this c & d, despite being underdone. She showed lots of speed before coming off 2nd best behind a subsequent winner and she would have strengthened during her ten week absence. Her unfavourable draw is a big concern but she could be above-average and has strong claims. There are some newcomers and they must be closely watched in the betting exchanges.

Jockey: Neisius K - Trainer: Hodgson D R

PARACHUTE MAN was given a great ride from the front as he found more to beat a decent staying type over this c & d, despite conceding 3.5kgs to the runner-up. The imported gelding was handed a five pound penalty but he still has more to offer and could develop into a decent staying prospect.

Race 6: SPEEDBALL(1)
Jockey: Byleveld M - Trainer: Marshall V H

SPEEDBALL is improving steadily with experience and she stayed on for a fair 4th in her last sprint. That form has worked out extremely well, with the runner-up winning twice since and the Marshall inmate would have come on during her 11 week break. She should relish the extra furlong on her pedigree and has strong claims, if she handles the blinkers. The daughter of A P Answer has drawn well on her debut around the turn.

Race 7: MR WISE GUY(9) - TOP BET
Jockey: Neisius K - Trainer: Ramsden J

The three-year old MR WISE GUY benefitted from his debut experience and the extra furlong as he made smart improvement to win a good maiden contest over this distance at Durbanville, second time out. He was the subject of market support that day, suggesting he is showing good work back home and the Visionaire colt is obviously above-average. He takes on stronger rivals on his handicap debut but may be better than rated and could prove equal to the task. Karl Neisius has kept faith in the colt and that is encouraging.

Jockey: Byleveld M - Trainer: Marshall V H

CELTIC REVIVAL never threatened in her disappointing last run in heavy conditions against male rivals over further but she had two promising attempts prior to that. Her conditioner has made some notable changes to the four-year old today and the daughter of Yeats could quickly bounce back to her best form. She drops in distance and tries blinkers for the first time. This is just her fourth career outing and she has good scope for improvement.
