Race 3: KILLER WOMAN(12)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Sean CORMACK - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

LIGHTING THE FIRE has produced some good form and he reverts to sprinting after weakening late over seven furlongs, six weeks ago. The form of that last start was given a boost when the runner-up won comfortably in open company last Saturday. The Drier inmate had solid form over this distance prior to that and should be involved in the finish.

Jockey: Brandon LERENA - Trainer: Tony RIVALLAND

KILLER WOMAN had two extremely creditable c & d efforts prior to her ten week break and both those formlines have worked out well. The daughter of Rip Van Winkle would have blossomed during her absence and she has plenty more improvement to come. She has cracked pole position on her seasonal debut and her conditioner usually gets them ready.

Jockey: Ian STURGEON - Trainer: Dennis BOSCH

This is a competitive fillies and mares handicap featuring some useful sorts and a thrilling finish is on the cards. QUEEN'S ADVANCE had too much to do with a big mass against male rivals last time but that form was given a lift when the 3rd placed finisher won a good event on Tuesday. This daughter of Right Approach proved her class when she recorded a super-impressive victory over a mile on this track in her penultimate outing and she is now back against her own sex. She has a smart turn of foot and has plenty more to offer. Admittedly, she takes on stronger but could prove equal to the task and merits huge respect.

Race 7: NORMANZ(3)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Charles LAIRD

This is a most intriguing sprint affair with Anton Marcus' choice of rides a good pointer to the final outcome. The former champion jockey has opted to partner the previous Grade 1 winner, NORMANZ. The son of Var hasn't won since his c & d Grade 1 triumph on the 'big sprint' day but he drops in class today. He moved up well before tiring in strong fields in his last two runs and perhaps the removal of blinkers could do the trick for the Charles Laird inmate. He has a bit to do at the weights with BRUTAL FORCE but Marcus often gets his choices right and that is a good indicator.

Race 4: EXCALIVAR(9) (Each Way)
Jockey: Ian STURGEON - Trainer: Ivan MOORE

EXCALIVAR had two fair local runs on the polytrack and now races on a more suitable surface. The form- er Gauteng resident had smart Highveld form against stronger on the grass and he is well handicapped in this low-key affair. He can cause an upset with his in-form jockey aboard.
