Race 2: ARMORIAL(3)
Jockey: Zechner K - Trainer: Sham D

ARMORIAL is improving but wasn't given the best of rides when he ran on strongly for a close 3rd over 1300m on this track, two weeks ago. It is concerning that he jumps slowly but the Kahal gelding has good scope for improvement and should relish this extra distance. The former KZN resident could make amends for this in-form combination.

Jockey: Fortune A - Trainer: Bremner Y

ORIENTAL TIGER is an above-average gelding with smart form in his three starts and he looks progressive. The Lecture gelding probably just needed his last run on his return to this province but will be cherry-ripe today. He tries this surface and is drawn poorly, but has all the gate speed and now gets the services of in-form veteran jockey Fortune. He should still go very close.

Jockey: Mansour D - Trainer: Paddock G

The day's topliner is a competitive handicap with just eight entrants and a likely sedate gallop could make things rather complicated. CHILI CHOCOLATE races handy and has a good burst of speed which will certainly help her in her quest for first prize. The former Gauteng resident had plenty in hand when she fended off STACKED BY SEATTLE (5.5kgs worse off) on her local debut over 1900m on this track, three weeks ago. She faced much weaker that day but was returning from a ten week break so will strip fitter. The daughter of Muhtafal was handed a five pound penalty but she clearly has more to offer and she wasn't disgraced when 3rd behind a quality sort in her penultimate run in KZN. She has more to offer in this province and could raise her game.

Jockey: Fortune A - Trainer: Bremner Y

WESTERN WONDER reached a competitive mark in his rating and he proved his worth with a powerful burst for 2nd over this c & d at a slightly higher level, three weeks ago. That run unfortunately earned him a two pound penalty but he could prefer racing with blinkers today and should certainly appreciate the services of in-form Andrew Fortune. The Way West gelding is at his best on this track.

Race 5: UNBROKEN(8)
Jockey: Khumalo S - Trainer: Bremner Y

The Yvette Bremner stable holds a very strong hand in this low-key affair. UNBROKEN has a moderate polytrack record but he is better than that and will prefer racing in this handicap company. He finally showed what he is capable of with an easy maiden victory over this distance and then got going late over the c & d at novice level last Friday. Khumalo retains the ride on the four-year old gelding who jumps from pole position.
