Race 6: BIG SHOT(4)

Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 5: THRUST(7)
Jockey: Simons R - Trainer: Matchett P F

THRUST is making up for lost time as the lightly raced four-year old made the expected improvement when fighting back smartly to shed his maiden tag over this c & d, second time out. He seems rather lowly rated on his handicap debut and could take full advantage of that. The Toreador gelding has good scope for further progress.

Jockey: Zechner K - Trainer: Zackey T

MIRAGE DRIVE was an impressive winner of his comeback effort on the grass two weeks ago and he has produced some smart performances on the sand. It is an obvious concern that he races so soon after exerting himself but the nine-year old gelding is as tough as nails and should be a major threat, despite racing on unfavourable conditions. He won his only c & d outing.

Race 7: MASNOON(1) - TOP BET
Jockey: V.D.Merwe J - Trainer: De Kock M F

MASNOON showed exactly what he is capable of when producing a powerful late burst to get up and beat a top quality pinnacle field over this c & d, two weeks ago. He could only be handed the maximum six pound penalty for that victory and despite top weight today, the Big Brown gelding is extremely well handicapped, judged on that performance. The four-year old chestnut will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the break and could take a power of beating at this handicap level.

Jockey: Simons R - Trainer: De Kock M F

WHITE CHRISTMAS is holding his form well but has a short but effective burst of speed. He needs to be held up for as long as possible and those instructions will surely be stressed to in-form jockey Randall Simons. The Right Approach gelding is c & d suited and should take a power of beating from his good draw.

Race 4: SLICK DEPUTY(12)
Jockey: Munger R - Trainer: Magner R R

This is a low-key fillies and mares handicap and plenty of caution must be exercised. SLICK DEPUTY is a course specialist with a handy galloping mass and she is often competitive in this events. She got going late after a rough start over the minimum trip, two weeks ago and is effective over this extra furlong. The chestnut mare could take advantage of being recently docked three pounds in her merit rating and she deserves respect, despite her wide draw
