Race 6: KIDMAMBO(7)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: SPANISH KISS(11)
Jockey: Herholdt F - Trainer: Matchett P F

SPANISH KISS has shown smart ability but a slow start clearly cost her when she tried the sand in her last start. The daughter of Toreador did make steady progress for 4th but would have finished much closer. The full-sister to two-time winner Thrust still has lots of room for improvement and she could be a totally different proposition, if jumping on terms. That first experience on this surface will stand her in good stead.

Jockey: Lerena G - Trainer: Peter P A

MUSICAL ROMANCE has produced two useful efforts to date and she handled the sand really well on her Highveld debut, second time out. She showed lots of speed before tiring late into 3rd against male rivals over this c & d that day and should build on that outing. The Paul Peter inmate now faces her own sex and she is a major contender with champion jockey Gavin Lerena in the saddle.

Race 4: WINDIGO(2)
Jockey: Wrogemann G - Trainer: Sage R R

WINDIGO has improved his formline since being equipped with blinkers and was making steady progress when he finished just out of the money over nine furlongs, four weeks ago. He is a lightly raced four- year old with decent scope and the mile on this surface could suit him well. His conditioner's horses are running well presently and the Windrush gelding deserves strong consideration in this competitive event. The obvious worry is how he will handle the sand.

Race 7: ESCUDO(1)
Jockey: Khumalo S - Trainer: Tarry S G

ESCUDO is holding her sand form well and she drops in class after taking on stronger over this c & d, recently. She seems to prefer an extra furlong to give of her best but the likely strong gallop of this event will play right into her hands. EMBRASIATIC could be responsible for that decent pace and she will strip fitter after no doubt needing her track debut over this distance, five weeks ago. The imported four-year old has her niggles but she has shown useful ability and was returning from a long 33 week absence when she was 2nd best behind POLAR SECRET (2.5kgs worse off) last time. She was handed a three pound penalty but is much better drawn this time around and has a big chance of reversing the form with her conqueror.

Race 6: COOL KID(4)
Jockey: Khumalo S - Trainer: Botes B D

COOL KID and TORA TORA are both solitary entrants from their respective stables on today's card and could fight out the finish. The former is still a lightly raced four-year old who loves racing on the sand, albeit his track record suggests otherwise. He has produced both his career wins at Flamingo Park but caught the eye when running on again for a decent 4th over 1450m on this surface, three weeks ago. The son of Horse Chestnut could be searching for this extra ground and his conditioner has obliged. He will again have the services of Khumalo and has bright claims. His wide draw is the slight worry.
