Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 3: OSTENTATION(2)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Sean TARRY

The four-year-old filly OSTENTATION has her issues but she caught the eye with two highly pleasing comeback runs over this c & d and now has her peak outing. She ran on strongly for a close 5th in similar company despite being slow into stride recently and holds obvious claims, if jumping on terms. She is well drawn and Delpech retains the ride.

Race 5: GREAT RUMPUS(6)
Jockey: Alec FORBES – Trainer: Frank ROBINSON

This is an intriguing staying event and plenty of caution is advised. That said, there are a few natural frontrunners who could ensure a decent gallop. The ratings may not necessarily be the best guide and GREAT RUMPUS could build on his much improved recent form on this track. The son of Black Minnaloushe finished strongly for 2nd over ten furlongs in a minor feature recently and he has placed over this c & d. He has plenty to do at the weights but will appreciate the likely strong pace and can pull this off.

Race 6: BALTIC AMBER(2)
Jockey: Muzi Yeni – Trainer: Duncan HOWELL

This is another tricky plated contest where the ratings may not be the best guide, particularly as the best-weighted runner has issues regarding his fitness. His fellow four-year-old BALTIC AMBER has an affinity for this track and he bounced back to best with a smart last run over this c & d, two weeks ago. He was slightly slow into stride that day but produced a strong finish and only failed to land the minor feature win by a neck. The Duncan Howells inmate may have just needed the run and he will strip much fitter now. He has plenty to do on official ratings but still has more to offer and must be respected.

Race 8: OFF RAMP(2)

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

OFF RAMP is in good nick and she has finally cracked a manageable draw. The Kannemeyer inmate has performed well on the polytrack and she produced a strong finish when beaten a short head into 2nd in slightly stronger company, four weeks ago. She has no issues with the mile or the grass and is a major contender in this field.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 4: AUCTION KING(5)
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLF – Trainer: Paul LAFFERTY

AUCTION KING lost his way in the winter and was rightly given a break, possibly due to a setback. The usually consistent gelding had some useful form prior to his poor last three feature runs and the rest would have helped his cause. He continues to steadily drop in the ratings and could provide an upset as he drops in class here. The engaging of Randolph suggests that his conditioner will have the five year old fit and well.
