Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: MOUNT FUJI(2)
Race 2: DANCE IN THE WOODS(7)
Race 5: STAR ACADEMY(2)
Race 6: MOUNTAIN MASTER(3)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: MOUNT FUJI(2)

Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD – Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL

MOUNT FUJI was below-par in his last start but may have still felt the effects of his previous travel to PE. He would have surely acclimatized back in the ‘Mother City’ now and has the best credentials in this contest. His yard has struck form recently and the Admire Main gelding could prefer racing without blinkers. The drop in distance won’t pose and issue and he rates as the one to beat.

Top Bet

Race 3: WAFIQAH(1)

Jockey: Gareth WRIGHT – Trainer: Darryl HODGSON

WAFIQAH has some niggles but she made the expected improvement when running on for 2nd over this c & d three weeks ago. She finished just under one length in front of the more experienced MALACHITE SUNBIRD and the pair meet on similar weight terms. This well-related daughter of Toreador has good scope for further progress and this longer run-in should suit her better. She has cracked a good draw and can confirm the form on her peak outing.

Race 5: STAR ACADEMY(2)

Jockey: Devin ASHBY – Trainer: Paul REEVES

STAR ACADEMY has got her career firmly back on track and she renews her rivalry with the veteran campaigner MONEY SURGER. She tried hard when going down half a length behind the latter over this c & d ten days ago but is now 2.5kgs to the good and has more room for improvement. She is her conditioner’s only entrant on this card and the daughter of Dupont could turn things around.

Race 6: MOUNTAIN MASTER(3)
Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Mike BASS

MOUNTAIN MASTER continues to struggle for that overdue next career win but there were plenty of encouraging signs in his last start. The expensive purchase clearly recovered from his PE trip and he ran on strongly for a close 3rd in a tight finish over a mile on this track. He will relish this extra furlong, having shed his maiden tag over this track & trip and the Mike Bass inmate drops in class. He cannot be followed with much confidence but may have escaped without a penalty for that improved last run and could take full advantage of that.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 4: WINTER TRADE(7)
Jockey: Donavan MANSOUR – Trainer: Darryl HODGSON

Once again a small but competitive field heads to post and another exciting finish is expected. WINTER TRADE is better than his recent performances and he is finally dropping in the ratings. He hasn’t won for some time, which is worrying, but the son of Western Winter is reaching a competitive mark and he could stake a serious claim in this line-up.
