Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: REACTIVE(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Tony RIVALLAND

REACTIVE has improved significantly since his two dismal polytrack runs. The lightly raced three-year-old has finished close-up in his last two turf starts and he could enjoy being equipped with blinkers tonight. He gets the services of red-hot jockey Anton Marcus and has strong claims of exiting the maiden ranks.

Race 2: HOSANNA(2)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Weiho Marwing

There are a few form runners in this maiden contest and an exciting finish is expected. HOSANNA is improving quickly with each outing and she stayed on well for 2nd over the minimum trip on this track, two weeks ago. She has unfortunately cracked another shocking draw but clearly has scope for improvement and top jockey Marcus takes the ride. The daughter of Toreador should enjoy this extra furlong and she can pull this off.

Jockey: Sean VEALE - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

COASTAL SPELL has come to hand smartly in recent starts over the mile on both local surfaces. She was beaten fair and square by a better sort on the grass on New Year's Day and though her fitness is a slight issue as she returns from an eight-week break, she meets a moderate line-up and is the one to beat.

Race 7: WEALTHY(1)
Jockey: Sean VEALE - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

WEALTHY made a bright local debut for his new yard when he finished strongly for a close 3rd over seven furlongs on this track in his comeback run, two weeks ago. The former Cape resident will strip fitter and his pedigree suggests that this trip should be right up his alley. The son of Silvano could have a bright future in this province and he should take a power of beating.

Jockey: Jausurick JORDAAN - Trainer: Jeff REDMAN

There may not be a strong gallop in this six-furlong sprint and the recent maiden winner PROMISSORY could enjoy the run of the race with his frontrunning tactics. The Jeff Freedman inmate is lightly raced and was 2nd best behind a subsequent feature winner on debut over this c & d. He showed noticeable improvement as he easily won his maiden on the grass when equipped with blinkers, three weeks ago. The Overlord colt will again wear the headgear and he has decent scope for improvement. He jumps from a handy draw and could dictate terms.
