Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: TRINITY HALL(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Paul GADSBY

TRINITY HALL probably found six furlongs too far for him in a competitive maiden field last time out but he showed his true capabilities when touched off over this c & d in his penultimate start. He has often found betting support, suggesting that he is showing decent work back home and the son of Global One could make amends with Marcus in the saddle.

TOP BET
Race 4: MISS VARLICIOUS(3)
Jockey: Calvin NGCOBO - Trainer: Paul GADSBY

The ultra-consistent and classy MISS VARLICIOUS has this conditions plate at her mercy. The daughter of Var is best in on official ratings and she is in great form, having got the upper hand late to beat SHEZALEADER (4kgs worse off) by half a length at Greyville on the grass, three weeks ago. She is even better down the straight, on this track as her record proves and the four-year old filly will again be partnered by the 4kgs claiming apprentice.

Race 5: SOUTH PAW(9)
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLPH - Trainer: Chris ERASMUS

The well-related three-year-old SOUTH PAW loved every bit of the rise in distance as he made huge improvement over ten furlongs on this track, second time out. The half-brother to former Summer Cup winner Tyson ran on strongly from way back in the field to finish a really creditable 4th, beaten just over two lengths at the wire. He did attract some outside betting support that day, indicating that the yard was expecting improvement. The son of Spectrum should again relish this extra two furlongs and he clearly has plenty more to offer. He now gets the services of a top jockey and should be taken seriously in this field.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: GREY'S A ROCKIN(8)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Sean TARRY

The three-year-old gelding GREY'S A ROCKIN isn't quite himself on the polytrack and his post maiden form bears testament to that. He was an easy maiden winner on the grass over 1950m prior to that and has dropped nicely in the ratings. He was gelded just three days after his last performance and has good scope for improvement. The son of Greys Inn should be competitive in this field.
