Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: ITALIAN MISS(10)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Chris LAIRD

TALIAN MISS had a shocking second outing over a mile on the polytrack but she races just three weeks later, suggesting that all is well with the daughter of Ad Valorem. She produced a cracking debut on the same surface over shorter in her penultimate outing and could prefer this drop in distance. The betting market in both her starts suggests that she could be rated by her conditioner and the Charles Laird inmate could bounce back to form on her grass debut. She has the early speed to cope with this six furlongs.

Race 3: SABER'S BEADS(14)
Jockey: Sean VEALE - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

SABER'S BEADS found some outside market support when he produced a thrilling debut in a decent field over this c & d in yielding conditions, nine weeks ago. He easily overcame his unfavourable barrier position and fought on gamely before being beaten a neck into 3rd, that day. The runner-up boosted that form with a subsequent victory on the Highveld and this son of Warm White Night would have come on appreciably from that experience. He would have strengthened during the short absence and could develop into a quality sort. The bay gelding is drawn well at gate 3 and should take some beating.

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

OLYMPIC BOLT opened up a different avenue for his conditioner when he adjusted well to life on the grass, recently. The imported gelding raced handy over this c & d that day and ran on well to easily win in lesser company. However, he may have escaped with just a three pound penalty and could still have more to offer on this surface. His good draw is a definite plus and the son of Asiatic Boy has definite claims.

Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Weichong MARWING

POCAHONTAS GIRL has improved smartly since arriving in this province. She has done well on both local surfaces and challenged strongly when going down half a length into 2nd on the polytrack over this trip, three weeks ago. She had a few of today's rivals behind her that day and has the most scope. The daughter of Noordhoek Flyer has cracked the best draw on her track debut and she could take some beating with Marcus in the saddle.

Jockey: Keagan DE MELO - Trainer: Kumran NAIDOO

BELLICOSITY enjoys this c & d and he is holding his form well. His yard has turned the corner in the past week and this son of Fort Beluga could keep the flag flying high. Top jockey Keagan de Melo retains the ride on the four-year old chestnut gelding.
