Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: RHYTHM IN RED(12)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Tienie PRINSLOO

had excuses for her below-par second outing, also against male rivals, but she produced an exciting debut over this c & d prior to that. The daughter of Overlord finally faces her own sex today and she could have plenty of improvement to come. The engaging of top jockey Khumalo could make the difference and she rates as the one to beat.

Race 2: KARTOUCHE(13)
Jockey: Callan MURRAY - Trainer: Dennis CASON

has shown some ability to date and she was running on for 3rd over this c & d, four weeks ago. She was soundly beaten in her penultimate start against male rivals but still has scope for progress and is well drawn now.

Race 3: THIEL(2)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Tienie PRINSLOO

is a consistent long-time maiden who has been knocking hard at the door and today could be his day. He only tired late over further last time out and this drop in distance should be ideal for the three-year-old gelding.

Race 4: NIGHT MOVES(2)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Louis GOOSEN

The Gauteng raider NIGHT MOVES is the only filly, other than the reserve runner, in this low-key handicap but she made a bright local debut over seven furlongs and can build on that performance. She has met stronger on the Highveld and has the pedigree to handle the nine furlongs. The daughter of Mambo In Seattle suffered a massive penalty for that much improved last effort but she drops consider- ably in class and should be competitive.

Race 8: DUKES IDOL(4)
Jockey: Divaan NEETHLING - Trainer: Bill HUMAN

is a most interesting entrant as the inmate from the Bill Human yard was carded to race at Greyville just three days ago. It is highly unlikely that she will appear in both contests but could mount another serious challenge, if she takes her place in this field. She drew off to record an easy last c & d victory despite a wide draw and has already shown to be capable against this stronger bunch. The daughter of Kahal is drawn best of all and her conditioner has negated the four-pound penalty by engaging a 4kgs claiming apprentice.
