Magic Tips Best Bets

Top Bet
Jockey: Grant BEHR - Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

Once again there are quite a few newcomers in this maiden juvenile contest and the market must be closely followed. GREGORIAN CHANT has enough experience though and the Kannemeyer inmate has produced three excellent starts to date, the latest a very close 3rd over this c & d. He finished a short head adrift of debut runner ALWAYS IN CHARGE on that occasion and there should again be precious little to choose between the pair.

Race 6: QING(6)

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The classy QING has improved rapidly with each start & the daughter of Dynasty completed a four-timer with a super-impressive c & d victory on Met day. She would have strengthened during her 12-week break and the Snaith inmate has huge room for improvement. The engaging of top jockey Delpech indicates that her conditioner will have her fit and well and the bay filly should handle the step-up in class. Her good draw is a major plus.

Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER - Trainer: Mike BASS

MARINARESCO had a great summer that culminated with a quality performance in the Grade 1 Derby over ten furlongs in late January. He was slow into stride but ran on smartly for 3rd behind two top sorts and was interestingly gelded a mere four days later. The son of Silvano has plenty more to come and he would have strengthened during his 13-week absence. He races fresh so the mile won't be an issue and he has the class to take a power of beating in this field.

Race 8: MEGA SECRET(1)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Paddy KRUYER

MEGA SECRET is a decent sort with smart maiden form and he showed great character to recover and finish strongly for 2nd over this c & d after being severely checked in his last outing. He jumps from a much better draw this time and top visiting jockey Raymond Danielson should get him over the line first. The son of Jay Peg could still have a decent future thereafter and must be followed.

Race 5: HONEST ALLY(6)
Jockey: Corne OFFER - Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

This is an intriguing maiden plate for fillies and though there are a few form contenders, the likely lack of a decent pace makes things very tricky and the eventual dictator could profit the most. The Brett Crawford inmate HONEST ALLY does appear held by a few on her last c & d showing but she is again well drawn and has already shown she is capable with frontrunning tactics. The daughter of Captain Al is expected to adopt similar tactics to good effect.
