Top Bet
Race 1: JIFFY(1)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Rico VERDONESE

The unbeaten JIFFY is his stable's only runner on this card and he can complete the hat-trick early in his career. He was an impressive debut winner on this track but produced an even better display to win his second outing over six furlongs at the Vaal. The son of A P Arrow was returning from a short break so will strip fitter and he could have a bright future.

Race 2: INTRIGUING LADY(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

INTRIGUING LADY gave all she has but still came off 2nd best behind a top class unbeaten sort in a feature on this track, two weeks ago. The blinkers helped the imported daughter of New Approach raise her game and she has a bright future over further. The chestnut filly drops heavily in class on her peak outing and she should take a power of beating with Anton Marcus retaining the ride.

Race 5: CARRY ON ALICE(1)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Sean TARRY

The brilliant CARRY ON ALICE deserved her 11-week break after a tough Cape summer campaign and she now prepares for another tilt at the Grade 1 Computaform Sprint. Of course, she went down narrowly in her last Grade 1 performance at Kenilworth but is back facing her own sex today. Whilst the ratings and her sheer class make her very tough to beat at this pinnacle level, it must be noted that her trainer seldom pushes them hard prior to a major graded contest. The daughter of Captain Al is the obvious choice but she should be at very restricted odds and considering she won't be fully tuned-up, some caution is advised.

Race 7: INARA(1)
Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK - Trainer: Mike BASS

This is a most intriguing renewal of this Grade 1 contest over a mile and in the absence of a natural pacesetter, things should get very interesting over the final two furlongs. All eyes will firmly be on the Cape champion filly INARA who has her local debut. Her form underlines her class and she was given a brilliant ride when she beat the overseas-bound Same Jurisdiction in a Grade 1 at Kenilworth over this distance in late January. She finished a creditable 2nd to subsequent Met winner Smart Call in her penultimate run and the daughter of Trippi will love racing on this galloping track. She has experience around the right-hand turn and should make her class count.

Race 3: VARS PRIDE(1)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Scott KENNY

VARS PRIDE had excuses for his shocking last run in a workrider's contest and that effort is best ignored. He was clearly in need of his comeback run prior to that and the son of Var now has his third run after the layoff. He had two promising c & d efforts before the 14-week absence and can bounce back to that form today. The bay gelding is the only representative from his yard on this card.
