Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: ASHWAL(2)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

ASHWAL relished the switch to the polytrack as she made smart improvement when runner-up over this c & d, three weeks ago. She finished comfortably ahead of today's rival PETITE CHOUX that day and the Snaith inmate will have further progress to come. She jumps from a good draw and should go very close with Khumalo in the saddle.

Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER - Trainer: Willem A NEL

VIKING VOYAGE is another Cape visitor who brings decent form into this maiden contest. The inmate from the Andre Nel yard is also plagued with injuries but he seems to have recovered and he posted two useful comeback runs after that lengthy absence. Furthermore, the form of his last run has worked out extremely well and the well-related Trippi gelding will be cherry-ripe here. He jumps from a good draw on his polytrack debut.

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Tara LAING

BEUNOS AIRES has a definite affinity for this surface and he kept his 100% track record intact with an easy last win over 1300m, two weeks ago. That earned him a five pound penalty but the son of Var still has lots more to offer on this track and his maiden victory came over this trip. He jumps from another good draw.

Race 8: CARDINAL(9)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

A decent field lines-up for the day's topliner and once again a close finish is expected. The Snaith inmate CARDINAL has produced two smart local runs in lesser company and he now has his third run after the layoff. He finished strongly for 2nd over 1300m on this track recently and despite the resultant three pound penalty, the Trippi gelding should be a force with a decent mass in this field. Top jockey S'manga Khumalo retains the ride.

Race 9: MAN OF HONOUR(10)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Jacques STRYDOM

MAN OF HONOUR had a fair comeback run when making late progress to finish just out of the money on the turf in early April and he should be fitter today. He suffered a setback shortly after his impressive winning local debut in the maidens but could prefer this surface and he still has more to offer. The lightly raced four-year old gets the services of Richard Fourie and he should be competitive in this field.
