Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: CAPTAIN'S RESERVE(2)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Tara LAING

BLACK TOGA
has enjoyed reverting to sprints recently and he was impressive when easily beating a decent field over this c & d in late April. The win earned him a five-pound penalty but the son of Black Minnaloushe could still have more to offer and he has the class to go close once again.

CAPTAIN'S RESERVE(2)
Race 6: TRUE MASTER(3)Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The Snaith pairing of TRUE MASTER and JET EXPLORER renew their rivalry and they head up the entrants for this non-black type affair over nine furlongs. The former was given a strong ride as he collared the latter close to home over the mile at pinnacle level earlier this month but he is 1kg worse off at the weights. Still, his record shows that he will easily cope with this distance and the Jet Master gelding has lively claims once again. The latter is in good form and is weighted with a big shout on his peak effort.

TRUE MASTER(3)
TOP BET
Race 7: CARDINAL(1)
Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

CARDINAL
has been racing with success in much stronger company and he had an encouraging c & d effort behind Black Toga (runs in race 2) in late April. He has gone close in the 'Mother City' with a similar mass and he should take some beating in today's line-up.

Race 7: CARDINAL(1)

Race 9: LA REBEL(1)

Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

The classy three-year-old filly LA REBEL had promising form in strong company prior to her poor last feature effort. She was touched off in a feature over this c & d in her penultimate start and should take some beating despite shouldering top weight today.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: FIRST OF MAY(9)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

FIRST OF MAY
has come down nicely in the ratings recently and she is threatening a big effort. She had a luckless last run over seven furlongs on this track as she raced wide throughout but the daughter of Ashaawes still only tired very late to finish 4th, beaten just over two lengths at the line. It is slightly concerning that Khumalo has now opted for the stablemate INVISIBLE JUICE but the top rating will prefer going over the mile and she can pull this off.
