Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: FLYING DREAM(1)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER

A small field of just seven runners heads to post for this maiden stayers event which could yield a favourable outcome for punters. The long-time maiden FLYING DREAM continues to be consistent and she has the best credentials. Her track is solid but she went close over ten furlongs on the Classic course at the Vaal, three weeks ago. She finished just over two lengths in front of VUL INDLELA and can go one better today. The likely sedate gallop will play into her hands and Fortune knows her well.

Top Bet
Race 2: DUKE NUKEM(1)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Gary ALEXNADER

DUKE NUKEM
was rewarded for consistency when he shouldered a big mass to a gutsy last victory over this c & d in late July. He has all the class to follow-up despite the rise in grade and the son of Bankable may have escaped with just a three pound penalty. The four-year old chestnut gelding will enjoy the likely solid pace.

Race 3: PEARL VALLEY(1)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Ernie ANDERSON

This is an ordinary contest and the long-time maiden PEARL VALLEY has done more than enough to exit these ranks today. She has finished runner-up in her last three starts on this track and her good draw could make a significant difference here. Top veteran jockey Andrew Fortune retains the ride on the bay mare who is her stable's only representative on this card.

Race 4: IMMORTAL SECRET(8)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Ormond FERRARIS

IMMORTAL SECRET
has had two fair efforts to date but he is his own worst enemy as he jumps slowly upon exiting the gates. He ran on well in his improved comeback run when strongly fancied two weeks ago and can certainly build on that effort today. The Jay Peg gelding should be fitter now and he clearly has more to offer. There doesn't seem to be much speed in today's contest and that could suit the three-year-old perfectly. His top jockey Delpech retains the ride.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 7: ROYAL MASTER(7)
Jockey: Ryan MUNGER - Trainer: Bill HUMAN

The Kimberley resident ROYAL MASTER has done well in this province recently but he didn't enjoy racing down the straight in his below-par last effort. He stayed on for a decent 3rd behind POST GRAD from a wide draw over a mile in his penultimate outing but is now 3kgs better off with that rival. The extra furlong suits the Jet Master gelding who has a big shout from pole position.
