Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: CAPTAINS MOLL(14)
Race 2: OYSTER POND(11)
Race 3: MY PAL AL(2)
Race 6: HUMIDOR(10)

Race 1: CAPTAINS MOLL(14)
Jockey: M YENI – Trainer: J GOODMAN

CAPTAIN’S MOLL had legitimate excuses for her disappointing comeback run over this c & d two weeks ago but her conditioner is obviously pleased with her progress since. The daughter of Captain Al produced two quality performances as a juvenile and she still has good room for improvement. She will be fitter now and could enjoy being given a strong ride by Yeni.

TOP BET
Race 2: OYSTER POND(11)
Jockey: A DELPECH  – Trainer: D HOWELLS

OYSTER POND was unfancied when she lacked a strong kick on debut in a big field over six furlongs, two weeks ago. She was well beaten into 4th but there were some smartly bred sorts in that contest and the formline could certainly be worth following. This daughter of Tiger Ridge would have come on from that showing and her pedigree indicates that she will love every bit of this extra furlong. She is well drawn on her debut around the turn and the Duncan Howells inmate is a strong first selection from the raced runners.

Race 3: MY PAL AL(2)

Jockey: S VEALE – Trainer: A GORDON

MY PAL AL needed his comeback sprint a fortnight ago and that formline is another worth following. The son of Captain Al posted two decent efforts behind two top quality sorts prior to that and he will strip fitter today. He has unfortunately drawn poorly but is bred to enjoy this extra furlong and he still has plenty of scope for progress. The Alistair Gordon inmate should give a very good account of himself.

Race 6: HUMIDOR(10)
Jockey: M YENI – Trainer: A RIVALLAND

HUMIDOR was withdrawn after injuring himself in the starting stalls eleven days ago but his trainer is obviously pleased with his recovery since. The lightly raced bay gelding has shown top quality sprint form but his last outing when trying the mile may have opened some avenues for his conditioner. The son of Miesque’s Approval raced handy in a competitive feature and he only tired late into a most creditable 4th. Today’s slightly shorter trip will suit him very well and the five-year-old gelding could be ready for this step-up in class. He is well handicapped with 52kgs and can cause an upset from his decent draw. Top jockey Muzi Yeni does duty for the Rivalland yard. The fact that many of his rivals are using this as a prep run could work heavily in his favour.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 4: MAD PUSHPA(13)
Jockey: A FORBES – Trainer: L FORBES

MAD PUSHPA often finds outside betting support and she surprised a few with an improved last effort on the grass. She made steady progress for 3rd over the mile on this track that day but surprisingly continues to steadily drop in the merit ratings. She is well handicapped in today’s slightly stronger contest and the daughter of Windrush can stake a serious claim.
