Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: RED LIGHT GIRL(4)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

Just half a dozen three-year-old fillies head to post for this graduation contest and with all displaying quality form thus far, an exciting outcome is expected. This formline could certainly be worth following. RED LIGHT GIRL is the stable elect from the Snaith yard and this speedy daughter of Captain Al reverts to sprinting after a solid handicap debut run in open company over seven furlongs, six weeks ago. She was most impressive when shedding her maiden tag over this trip prior to that and is clearly above-average. The bay filly is drawn best of all on her track debut.

Race 4: BARONESS MARY(11)
Jockey: Corne ORFFER - Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

The lightly raced BARONESS MARY could have a touch of class about her and she can make a winning handicap debut today. The three-year-old daughter of Dynasty relished trying the mile and the turn as she finished strongly to beat a consistent sort going away in her maiden effort over this c & d, three weeks ago. Admittedly, she takes on considerably stronger now but does seem ahead of the handicapper and she jumps from a better draw. Furthermore, the Brett Crawford inmate has a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs. The hard-knocking handicappers, WANING CRESCENT and EVOKE EMOTION, should provide stiff competition for her though. Both mares are in good form and are well drawn. The latter drops heavily in class but she may just prefer an extra furlong to be at her best.

Race 5: ROYAL CHIAN(1)

Jockey: Craig BANTAM - Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL

The speedy ROYAL CHIAN had a satisfactory first experience on this tight circuit when she stayed on for 3rd behind Live Life, three weeks ago. She has just under half a length to find on the three-year old runner-up HARAKIRI on that performance and she is 1.5kgs better off at the weights. The Marshall inmate should be better suited to this track today and she can reverse the form from her good draw. The latter has much more scope for improvement but she once again jumps from an awkward draw and will be severely tested.

Race 8: COLONEL BLUFF(5)

Jockey: Creg CHEYNE - Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

The Brett Crawford stable is well-represented in this final event and COLONEL BLUFF is expected to build on his promising debut over six furlongs on this track a fortnight ago. The Dynasty colt was firm in the betting exchanges that day and he ran on steadily for 3rd behind an easy winner. That first experience is sure to have brought him on and Greg Cheyne's ride should relish today's extra furlong. He is once again drawn well.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 3: ROCKETEER(9)
Jockey: Brandon MAY - Trainer: CJ BURGER/R VAN REENEN

There are many form runners in this competitive ten furlong maiden event and the value could lie with the three-year old representative ROCKETEER. The chestnut colt has improved his formline since going over ground but he possibly found the sharp rise in trip too much to handle when comfortably beaten by a few on the Omaha Tribe effort. However, he showed good improvement after finding outside betting support over nine furlongs subsequently. The son of Muhtafal moved up well before tiring in the sticky conditions but he was just a neck adrift of today's likely favourite ROYAL GINGER whom he meets on 4.5kgs better terms. It is worth noting that the runner-up of that event Cuduiari won his next start beating the latter narrowly. This inmate who represents the Burger/Van Reenen combination has his peak showing and he clearly has scope for further progress. Interestingly, he will be partnered by the same 2.5kgs claiming apprentice who was aboard the latter on quite a few occasions. Speaking of the latter, he has shown enough solid credentials to warrant healthy respect despite the weight. Top visiting
