Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: MISSIBABA(5)
Race 3: KILMOKEA(12)
Race 8: DAWN CALLING(7)
Race 9: TAKAMAKA(6)

Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 1: MISSIBABA(5)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Dennis BOSCH

MISSIBABA is lightly raced and she showed promise in Gauteng. She may have some issues though and returns from a 23 week absence. However, the engaging of Marcus aboard the chestnut filly suggests that her new conditioner will have her fit and ready. This forgiving surface could suit the daughter of Visionaire who went close over this trip in her last outing and that formline was boosted when the runner-up Dromedaris won subsequently.

Race 2: PATH TO GLORY(6)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

PATH TO GLORY has relished stepping onto this surface and she made smart improvement in her last two efforts over a mile. The form of her last run was boosted when her stablemate Onesie easily shed her maiden tag subsequently and this daughter of Pathfork has scope for further progress. She would have strengthened during the 11-week break and should be competitive from a good draw. The drop in trip won’t be an issue.

TOP BET
Race 4: JE SUIS SILVER(5)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS
 – Trainer: Tony RIVALLAND

The top jockeys are engaged on the form runners in this maiden contest and that should ensure an exciting finish. JE SUIS SILVER is lightly raced and she has shown some decent potential to date. She had a promising first showing on the polytrack last time when going close against male rivals. The bay filly will be cherry-ripe here and she should go close back against her own sex. Top jockey Anton Marcus takes the ride.

Race 7: THE ROYAL RUMBA(3)
Jockey: Marco V/RENSBURG – Trainer: Weiho MARWING

With just eight runners going to post for this competitive handicap, the obvious concern is the pace. There are a couple of capable frontrunners but there could still be a sedate gallop. However, that could play right into the hands of the top selection THE ROYAL RUMBA who certainly won’t be as far out of his ground as he usually is. The five-year-old bay gelding needed both his comeback runs after a lengthy spell on the sidelines and he is c & d suited. He continues to steadily drop in the ratings and has faced much stronger opposition. He represents an in-form combination and can bounce right back to his best.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: HO’OPONOPONO(7)
Jockey: Morne WINNAAR – Trainer: Dennis BOSCH

HO’OPONOPONO was given a great ride when he ran on strongly to defeat OUT MY WAY by half a length over this c & d, three weeks ago. He meets the runner-up on 0.5kg worse terms but his capable jockey may have made all the difference on the chestnut entire’, who can follow-up. The six-year old will once again relish the likely blistering pace. The latter has continued his resurgence in form but is his own worst enemy as he often jumps slowly. Still, he makes up for that in the closing stages and must be respected.
