Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: ANDERMATT(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Alistair GORDON

Top jockeys Marcus and De Melo clash once more here and the former's mount ANDERMATT could be the right one. This inmate from the Gordon yard has shown fair form despite a few niggles and the form of her last start on her polytrack debut over seven furlongs has worked out extremely well. She races fresh after a 12-week absence but jumps from a good draw and she has further improvement to come.

Race 3: DISRUPT(1)

Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Charles LAIRD

DISRUPT is capable on both local surfaces and she stayed on well for 3rd in her comeback run over a mile recently. She will be fitter now and she races just ten days later, indicating that the daughter of Lateral took that effort well. Her pedigree suggests that she should enjoy the rise in distance and the Charles Laird inmate posted her career-best outing on this track.

Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

DOUBLE VISION has shown marked improvement since returning from a break but it must be noted that he was carded to race on 09/12. He had an eye-catching performance over this c & d in his penultimate run and could stake a serious claim from the best draw, with top jockey Marcus engaged.

Race 8: CALABASH(2)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Gareth VAN ZYL

The riding engagement of top jockey Anton Marcus is a great pointer as to the outcome of this final event and the veteran jockey has opted for the four-year-old CALABASH whom he partnered on the last three occasions. The Silvano gelding gives every indication that he will stay all day and he should love today's rise in ground. He jumps from a good draw so may be much closer than normal in the early stages.

Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

AIR CHIEF MARSHAL had two fair runs on the polytrack but in all honesty, was expected to do better, especially after his bright local debut over this trip on the grass at Scottsville. The Jet Master gelding has gradually dropped in the ratings since and the switch back to the turf could be a real blessing for the Cape resident who will once again be ridden by Anton Marcus.
