Race 1: CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN(1)
Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD  – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

A big field of juveniles face the starter for this opening contest and experience could be crucial. The Mike de Kock entrant CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN was strongly fancied when he produced a good debut over four furlongs on this course, earlier this month. He stayed on for 2nd after racing prominently and was in turn, 3.50 lengths in front of the next placed finisher HENRY TUDOR from the Snaith yard. The son of Captain Al should enjoy this extra furlong and he has strong claims. He is once again the yard’s only entrant on the card.

TOP BET
Race 2: AFRICAN NIGHT SKY(2)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The unbeaten AFRICAN NIGHT SKY produced a smart turn of foot to win his track debut over this trip second time out and he would have strengthened during his subsequent ten week absence. The Dynasty colt is clearly loaded with ability and today’s longer run-in should suit him perfectly. He gets the services of top rider Fourie and could be worth following.

Race 3: WICKED KISS(1)
Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Adam MARCUS

The Moon Princess c & d formline on 30/11 could feature prominently in this maiden contest and WICKED KISS fared best of all in that event. The lightly raced three-year old filly was drawn wide and had an awkward start but she still finished well for 2nd, beaten just a length and a half at the line. She was only one length in front of the next placed finisher SO ENCHANTING but has much more scope for progress than the latter. The top selection also has her peak showing and top jockey Van Niekerk retains the ride.

Race 6: NGAGA(7)

Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER – Trainer: Harold CRAWFORD

The unbeaten NGAGA looks a top prospect in the making and her two hard fought six furlong victories underlines her class. The imported bay filly will relish today’s rise in distance and she should be worth following. Her midfield draw is a good aid on her debut around the turn. That said, there are some hard-knocking older campaigners who should give the top rating plenty of competition.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: QUEEN AT WAR(8)

Jockey: Craig BANTAM – Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL

QUEEN AT WAR showed good speed in her much improved last effort over this c & d and her conditioner has negated the resultant four pound penalty by engaging a 4kgs claiming apprentice today. She stayed on for a close 3rd behind a top sort that day and now faces the runner-up SUN AT MIDNIGHT on 2kgs better terms for the half a length defeat.
