Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: SAVE THE DAY(1)
Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON - Trainer: Paul PETER

The top weight SAVE THE DAY has some fair recent form in stronger and she holds a decent c & d record. The daughter of Kahal is well-handicapped with the younger sorts despite her big mass and she should give a really good account of herself. She continues to steadily dip in the ratings.

TOP BET
Race 5: SIMPLY ROYAL(9)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Sean TARRY

The well-bred SIMPLY ROYAL produced a high class winning debut display over six furlongs on this tight circuit last month and she looks a very special sort in the making. The daughter of Silvano was fancied in the betting market when she showed a swift turn of foot to pulverize subsequent winner Patchouli Queen. She takes on much stronger on her handicap debut now but appears well in front of the handicapper's early assessment and she will relish the extra 250m. The Tarry inmate could certainly be worth following and she jumps from a good draw this time around.

Race 7: INTRIGUING LADY(6)
Jockey: Ryan MUNGER - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

INTRIGUING LADY took full advantage of the recent drop in her merit rating as she posted a smart last c & d display in a competitive three-year old handicap. The imported chestnut filly was returning from a break but she ran on smartly for 3rd and will be fitter today. She only finished a neck in front of the useful SECRET STAR that day and the pair should raise their game in open company this time around.

Race 8: MR RAMBO(12)
Jockey: Ryan MUNGER - Trainer: Grant MAROUN

MR RAMBO enjoyed racing in quick succession as he produced an eye-catching recent c & d effort in similar company. The Toreador gelding raced wide in that small field but still finished strongly for a close 3rd at the line. He wasn't penalized for the achievement and could take full advantage of that, especially from his good draw.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 3: STUDENT GRANT(9)

Jockey: Randall SIMONS - Trainer: Johan JANSE VAN VUUREN

STUDENT GRANT showed smart improvement when he ran on nicely to finish just out of the money over 1450m on this course in a competitive event in yielding conditions three weeks ago. The runner-up King Of Mani did the form little favour by finishing unplaced subsequently but this lightly raced son of Royal Air Force will strip fitter and he should relish the mile. He jumps from a good draw and can show decent further progress.
